Making health more accessible | 2x venture-backed founder of Greatist & Ness | Helping with health content & more marketing at Healthyish

?? Health and wellness companies are hiring (and fast) for folks in content & marketing. Every month, I pull together timely opportunities from health brands I know and often worth it. If you're considering a move, here are 20 opportunities to know about (see links below to see how to apply). 1-2/ Head of Growth & Head of Content @ Seed Oil Scout: One of the fastest-growing, hottest companies in dining tech. Have to dislike seed oils (duh). 3/ Head of Marketing @ Meadow Memorials: A contemporary funeral service reshaping an outdated, predatory industry. 4/ VP of Growth & Marketing @ Found: An evidence-based platform transforming personalized weight care. 5-6/ B2B Growth Marketing Manager and Product Marketing Manager @ SonderMind: A comprehensive, personalized mental health care platform. 7/ Content Strategist @ Alma: A platform committed to making it easy to find high-quality, affordable mental health care. 8/ Growth Creative Strategist @ Bobbie: An organic baby formula brand creating a parenting culture of confidence, not comparison. 9/ Director, Integrated Marketing @ GoodRx: A platform making healthcare more affordable and accessible by providing prescription drug discounts and coupons. 10/ Head of Social Media @ Food52: Brands dedicated to cooking, home design, and Scandinavian-inspired products. 11/ Director, Lifecycle Marketing @ Tia: The modern medical home for women. 12/ Head of Editorial @ Superpower: A healthcare platform focused on personalized, preventative, and performance-enhancing medicine. 13/ Director of Content & Brand @ FSAStore.com, Inc.: An online marketplace that sells products and services that are eligible for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). 14-15/ Editorial Director and Editor, Beauty & Wellness @ goop: A wellness and lifestyle brand and company founded by Gwyneth Paltrow. 16-17/ Social Writer and Video Editor @ Two Front A company that helps dentists grow their practice by preventing dental work instead of doing it. 18/ Senior Writer @ Weave Health: Health-forward creative engagement agency, has to be able to work in the UK. 19/ Freelance Writers & Editors @ Revel: A content agency (with some dope health clients) run by amazing, fierce founders. 20/ PT Content Market Manager @ Vibrant: Partners with physicians as they launch, run, and grow practices that prioritizes precision medicine. A delicious flat white made to perfection by Ella, a fully unmanned robot barista, wasn’t my only glimpse at the future at the Plug and Play Tech Center Summit in Sunnyvale, California last week. The following health trends – a roundup astutely pulled together by Plug and Play’s Health principal Julianne Roseman – offers guidance and confirmation where to put our energy in supporting our health and wellness clients and their respective consumers: ??Rise in self-service care - Care provided at patient’s location - Care provided on demand and async (text, video, call, in-person, VR, etc.) - Cost of care provided upfront and patient understands the health journey ?? Personalization - Patients shop for specific providers that have shared lived experiences - Patients want customized treatment plans tailored to their biology and life - Patients decide when to save or splurge on healthcare experiences ?? Social Media Effect on Healthcare - More (mis)informed patients - Health education matching consumer attention spans - Bite-sized information - More content, more frequently - Increased and ongoing patient engagement - Opportunity to go deeper with video content ?? GenAI Addresses Consumer Demands - AI co-pilots for everything - Guide patients on journey - Engage patients outside of clinic at all hours, in all formats - Provide more care when reducing staffing and administrative burden ?? Digital Advances Collaboration & Care - Patients want health guide for all of life’s goals and changes - Patients want help making decisions that align with their values - Human stories & relationships are the core of medicine With several of our clients already implementing many of these health trends (with our help when possible), the future is already here and it tastes great. Thank you, Brooke Ballinger, for inviting me to this terrific summit punctuated by amazing startup pitches, great conversations, and excellent provisions.

We built Revel on the notion that this work is not a one-person job. Luckily, when we need help, we have an extensive community of world-class experts across all creative and marketing disciplines to help guide us through to the other side. We do not pretend to have all the answers. However as trained journalists, we know where to find them and how to implement that advice. Here’s proof ??

I love asking people for advice. Receiving the right feedback from the right people at the right moment can change everything – as it did for us in 2023. Revel’s biggest challenge at the time: Closing the big deals. Getting leads, thankfully, has never been an issue. Our reputation, referrals, warm intros, and robust networks have helped us get our foot in the door with many impressive prospective clients. However last year, we had trouble securing a few opportunities that felt like no-brainers for us. We were at a loss and didn’t know what to do. So I did what any good journalist does when they have a question they can’t answer: Call an expert. Serendipitously, Musa Tariq – a well-respected CMO and advisor who has had his hands in some of the greatest global brands, including Apple, Airbnb, GoFundMe, and Nike, to name a few – had just soft-launched Mentorship with Musa, offering curated coaching to his followers on LinkedIn (← good reason to follow him, if you don’t already). From our first call, Musa astutely pointed out our main issue: We had lost focus since our launch three years earlier. As our brand grew, so did our pitch deck, which had become Frankensteined with all of our growing services. Our brand narrative had gotten buried along the way. Offering fresh, empathetic, and incisive feedback, Musa coached me and my cofounders, Amanda and Abby, back to our roots. The reason we had launched Revel in the first place: Our collective desire to apply our seasoned editorial leadership and the talents of our creative community to support clients dedicated to improving people’s health and well-being. Bottom line: Anyone can create content. Revel is uniquely qualified to make your health and wellness brand the leading authority. By our third meeting, Musa could see the difference: “This deck is a game-changer. You’ve leveled up.” Within three months of doing this important work, our close rate has tripled, we’re scaling rapidly, and founders of major brands are cold emailing us! It’s amazing how much things can change when you ask for a little help from your wise friends.

Happy book publishing day, Casey Means, MD ?? It's been inspiring working with you at Levels and we are excited to see more of your work out in the world. Congratulations!

?? #1 NYT Bestselling Author of GOOD ENERGY ?? Levels Co-Founder + ???Former surgeon turned metabolic health evangelist + ???Striving to create a happier and healthier world and planet

Today?is the day -?GOOD ENERGY IS PUBLISHED! I wrote?"GOOD ENERGY: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health" with Calley Means because after what I saw as a surgical trainee, my experiences as a physician, my personal health journey, and losing my beloved mother far too early to preventable metabolic disease - it is CLEAR that?we need a?radical?re-imagination of how we think about health and how we practice medicine in America. We must focus on the connected metabolic link underlying nearly every chronic disease and symptom in the modern Western world. Why do we need the?Good Energy?movement to take root? Because the current trends in health - for people and the planet - are bleak and unsustainable. In 2024 in the United States, we are expected to have: - The?highest incidence of new cancer cases in recorded history?(over 2 million new cases projected) - The highest rates of pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes ever (over 50% of American adults carry these diagnoses?- 136 million Americans) - Soaring rates of mental illness?in children and adults - Obesity and overweight rates?nearing 75% of the adult population, and 40% of children - Male and female infertility rising steadily - Autoimmune diseases rising?to epidemic levels - And so much more Meanwhile, the more we spend on “treating” these conditions, the higher the rates are getting.?It doesn’t need to be this way. In our work at Levels, in my advocacy work and content, and in this book, we strive to push back against this. Nothing could be more important at this moment in history, where our health is plummeting at an alarming and unsustainable rate. GOOD ENERGY?outlines an accessible roadmap for incredible mental and physical health, and it is so much simpler than we’ve been led to believe. I believe this book will improve the life of every single person who reads it and can help inspire a collective awakening about health for individuals and the system. It contains information to positively shift the trajectory of health for people?and?our planet. You can learn more about this mission via my recent episode with?Andrew Huberman: Transform?Your Health with Dr.?Casey Means. If this mission resonates with you, my ask is to?please buy the book?TODAY?or share about the book.?Buy as many copies as you can. Give them to friends, family, your teams, your community. We CAN radically transform our health and the health of our country and the world. The Good Energy approach will help.

There is nothing better than having a client roster staffed entirely by teams of people who are a pure joy to work with. We launched Revel with the intention of working with brands we align with — and we consistently find they are run by people who are razor sharp, creative, committed, supportive, authentic, and ready to do big things. Every one of our team members brings this same energy to the table, too. We just wanted to take a minute to recognize the magic that happens when A-teams join forces and have a good time while doing it.??

Here’s a real conversation we had with a founder friend this week: “Do you think this is a good post?” “Well, who are you targeting? If the answer is high school boys, then yes, absolutely. But if it’s their parents, no.” [long pause… ??] “Both?” We’ll stop there. Because that moment was a valuable reminder of one of the most basic but crucial rules of effective content: ?Before you create anything, you must define your target audience.? Then, every content decision runs through that filter. For example: ? Should I write this? (Does it serve the interests, needs, or wants of your audience?)? ? How should I write this? (What style, voice, and tone resonates best with your audience?)? ? Is this “good”? (What valuable takeaways will your audience gain? And what evidence or support did you provide to build credibility with them?) ? Where should I promote this? (Where is the majority of your audience consuming content?) Will doing this mean you dissuade or lose some people? Probably, yes. But that's a good thing! It means the ones who stick around are YOUR PEOPLE; the people who will continue to endear themselves to your brand. As former colleague and Editor in Chief of Entrepreneur Magazine Jason Feifer once said in his always-insightful newsletter, One Thing Better: "Our job isn’t to be for everyone. Our job is to create something that certain people want—and then serve them relentlessly." We couldn’t agree more. #brandbuilding #contentmarketing

Revel is rooted in community. Birthed from the notion that a collective is stronger, better, and more impactful than the efforts of one person. Revel wouldn’t exist without our connections and collaborations with more than 100 talented creative people. In the spirit of recognition, as Amanda Jedeikin wisely points out in her post below, we want to thank all the folks who’ve had their hand in growing Revel over the years. ??????

Let's take a moment to recognize "work" friendships that endure years after the job. Last month, I was visited here in Phoenix by a fantastic crew of former (and current) colleagues: Paula Buzzard, Naomi Piercey, Allison Beck, Erin Pastrana, and my Revel cofounder Cristina Goyanes. A group chat has kept most of us connected over the years since I left NYC, nearly a decade ago. This text thread is rich with advice, connections, support, and must-read/watch/do recommendations. But the real difference-maker is that each of us will readily hop on a plane for IRL meetups across the country and around the world, be it to celebrate a birthday, a wedding, or a Taylor Swift concert. Other work friendships have been invaluable to me at different moments in time, but I've lost touch with many. This visit has made me want to recognize and reconnect with those people who have been sources of inspiration, laughs, learning, commiseration, advice, and more. Consider this a nudge for you, as well, to acknowledge some of the people you're better for knowing. ?? ??
