Transforming Bone Repair

关于我们

RevBio was started with one goal in mind—to end medicine’s 50 year search for a biocompatible bone adhesive. Effective for bone-to-bone as well as bone-to-metal wet field applications, Tetranite? is a revolutionary biomaterial that promises to transform bone repair—for both patients and clinicians. Inspired by the marine animal the sandcastle worm, Tetranite is simple chemistry. Bioengineered from the worm’s secreted protein, our synthetic adhesive is the only patented biomaterial which satisfies both the required and desired properties for a bone adhesive: wet field performance, multi-surface bonding, rapid mechanical stability, and controlled biodegradability. The properties of Tetranite? include the ability to provide immediate fixation of bone to bone and bone to metal. This adhesive has been shown in multiple animal studies to be a non-toxic and effective way of repairing bone fractures and defects as well as securing implant devices. Existing data has also shown that Tetranite? is reabsorbed and replaced with new bone during the natural process of bone remodeling by acting as a scaffold to facilitate bone growth over time.

RevBio is proud to sponsor the McGill University Rocket Team’s Payload Project. The McGill Rocket Team consists of a group of 250 students who team up to design, manufacture, and launch sounding rockets each year at rocketry competitions in order to fulfill their mission of fostering the next generation of industry leaders. The Payload subteam is responsible for designing a scientific experiment to go inside the rocket. ? The McGill Rocket Team is integrating our novel bone adhesive, TETRANITE, into their experimental design to investigate the potential for our adhesive to remove barriers to enter space for astronauts with surgical implants. “We hope that this would allow astronauts who need fracture repair surgery before/during space flight to continue their missions safely despite having orthopedic implants in their body”, states Caroline Woodard, MRT Payload Orthopedics Project Lead and former RevBio Co-Op. ? The team is currently attending the Launch Canada conference and rocket launch event in Timmins Ontario, launching Project Thorondor which contains the TETRANITE experiment. Stay tuned for updates on the upcoming launch! #McGillRocketTeam #LaunchCanada #launchcanada2024 #RevBio #TETRANITE #rockets #rocketlaunch #soundingrocket #rocketry #scientific #spacetravel #boneadhesive #regenerativemedicine #osteoporosis #biomimetic #mcgilluniversity

This week, Brian Hess, CEO of RevBio, Inc., joined Dr. Giuseppe Intini and Dr. Roberta Di Carlo at the International Space Station National Laboratory Research & Development Conference in Boston. Dr. Intini delivered a compelling presentation on the topic of bone regeneration in space vs. here on earth. The research Dr. Intini presented provided the groundwork for how RevBio’s innovative bone adhesive, TETRANITE?, can aid in bone regeneration and counteract the bone loss that astronauts experience during space missions. Astronauts routinely are subjected to substantial “premature osteoporosis” due to the microgravity conditions they encounter in space. Bone density in their hips and spine has been recorded to decline by up to 2% per month. As a result, the International Space Station provides a unique lab to test treatments targeted at patients with osteoporosis. Dr. Intini’s presentation also highlighted initial findings from RevBio’s most recent experiment conducted on the International Space Station in collaboration with the Intini Lab at the University of Pittsburgh. This research will assess the rate and quality of new bone formation in mice treated with TETRANITE that subsequently were exposed to microgravity for a significant period of time while onboard the International Space Station. Stay tuned for more updates on the results from TETRANITE’s space mission in the coming months. #TETRANITE #BoneAdhesive #SpaceTravel #biomedical #engineering #osteoporosis #researchanddevelopment #regenerativemedicine #bonedensity #ISSRDC2024 #RevBio
