As another year comes to a close, many of us eagerly set goals and resolutions, looking to the future with renewed energy. As an eternal optimist, I often focus on what lies ahead. Yet, I’ve realized that in my haste to move forward, I sometimes overlook the importance of reflection—letting past experiences guide and shape future plans. Over the past few years, I’ve become intentional about pausing to reflect, and I wrote this article to share a simple yet powerful list of prompts to help you do the same.

I just finished reading “Strength to Strength” by Arthur C. Brooks. The book resonated with me, and I found a powerful quote in the final chapter: “The world often tells us to ‘love things, use people, and worship ourselves.’ But the truth is, to find real happiness, we must ‘use things, love people, and worship the divine”.

This 4th of July, as we celebrate freedom and independence, let's reflect on the leadership principles that built our nation. The Founding Fathers weren't afraid to challenge the status quo, fostering a culture of innovation and debate. Here are some leadership takeaways we can glean from this historic day: Courage: The Declaration of Independence was a bold act. Great leaders stand up for what they believe in, even when it's difficult. Unity In Diversity: Despite differing viewpoints, the Founders came together for a common goal. Leaders today can learn to harness diverse perspectives to create stronger solutions. Vision: The American experiment was built on an optimistic vision. Leaders must inspire teams to work towards a shared future. What leadership lessons resonate with you this Independence Day? #Leadership, #Leadershiplessons, #4thOfJuly, #IndependenceDay

Have you ever taken the time to consider how you are spending your 168 hours each week? How effective and efficient are we really? I recently did an exercise where I first was asked to list the 10 things I valued most. Then I was asked to prioritize them. Simple enough... right. The next thing I was asked to do was to look at an average week in my life and divide the 168 hours up into categories. The exercise gave me 5 categories to fit the hours into: 1. Sleep 2. Work 3. Eating 4. Exercise 5. Other. After completing the exercise I was amazed at how much time was in the "Other" category. I also began to think about my priorities from the earlier exercise. The result was that I was able to see capacity in my life that I did not know existed. I now have committed to intentionally rearrange my time to ensure that I am devoting time to my priorities first. These practices came from an experience called "Pruning" curated by Bolster Leadership https://lnkd.in/g3KRaQfw. Britney Cole, #TimeManagement, #Priorities, #Values

I believe that capitalism and entrepreneurship should strive for a higher goal beyond just increasing profits. There is a fundamental tension in capitalism between its social good and harmful legacy. Therefore, the key question is: Is my business positively impacting or negatively impacting human flourishing? Introducing you to Praxis, an organization helping leaders ensure their businesses align with this ethos.
