These events are pivotal for building public trust and strengthening partnerships where it matters most: right in our own communities. Local government truly is where the rubber meets the road when it comes to ensuring public safety and transparency in #AutonomousVehicles. It was great to see the City of Austin AV Safety Task Force members like Rachel C., and Zeke Reyna from TXDOT there, and so many impressive #avtechnology companies showing their support: Bill Geddings - SMS, CESCP, OHST, CHST from Zoox, Zach Hill and Edward H. from Cruise, Anton Shingarev from AVRide, plus Volkswagen, Waymo, and #ClientSolution providers such as: CW5(R) Jason K. ?? Meet Josh Reed: An Inspiring team member and human ?? Here at Retrospect, we're proud to have worked with Josh Reed as a project manager. He's always gone above and beyond with his work and professional rapport. From his insightful professional advice and assistance in building our first iteration of RiskEngine to his constant guidance to our interns, Josh’s incredible resilience and unwavering support left a long-lasting impact on our team and the company's history. Josh has not only shown resilience through his work but also in his personal life as his life changed dramatically following a devastating motorcycle accident that led to the loss of his right leg above the knee. Nonetheless, Josh overcame that loss and overcomes adversity every day. He continues pursuing his surfing and weightlifting passions and remodeling his home with his amazing wife, Grace. Furthermore, he is still advancing as a professional project manager and also serves as a leader at Forge Retreat, empowering many lives through his testimony and turning challenges into opportunities for growth. We are excited to see Josh continue to leave a mark and impact on his journey and beyond. Thank you, Josh! We would not have succeeded this far without you!

Congratulations to Aurora on the productive audit by 3rd-party, independent evaluators at TüV SüD! The first US company to get an independent, 3rd-party assessment was Argo AI in May 2022. The second was Cruise LCC, initiated by GM and conducted by Quinn Emanuel in January 2024. One of the key reports from Aurora's auditors emphasized, "the value of Aurora establishing its safety organization as an independent function that regularly reviews program effectiveness by its established Safety Review Board, and also seeks input from outside the company." 3rd-party partners are key for AV companies to build trust with the public and with regulators. While outside assessments are typically costly, tools and process, such as Retrospect's Safety Management System and real-time Safety Monitor (https://lnkd.in/e4zda9Pt) can make safety audits faster and cheaper. Avoiding independent, 3rd-party safety reviews is the highest risk, highest cost approach, and delaying safety reviews until the product is "ready" is effectively avoiding. Aurora has used reports like this to established themselves as leaders who will successfully and safely scale out autonomous vehicles on public roads.
