We are so grateful for Dr. Sejin Ha’s strong leadership and partnership with Tractor Supply Company to help our students professional growth.
In RMM 425 (Retail Category Management: Space Planning), our students, with the UT-TSC retail project in partnership with Tractor Supply Company, are reimagining the checkout area of physical stores for the TSC. They’re developing new checkout layouts with new planograms/POP/baskets and SKUs including YETI to improve profitability and customer experience.? As a part of the project, we had the opportunity to visit the Tractor Supply Company’s MIC (Merchandising Innovation Center) in Nashville on Dec 30. This field trip was an eye-opener for our students, giving them a first-hand look at the space planning aspect of the retail industry. A special shoutout to @Stephanie Dreyer at Tractor Supply Co. for organizing the trip, thank you! We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Jonathan Gray, Amber McSwain, Hannah Lee, Jeffrey Patton, Zachary Moore, and John Keen at TSC for their time, insights, and hospitality! We learned so much from this hands-on experience, and our students are now eager to infuse creativity and analytical thinking into this UT-TSC Retail project! Can’t wait to see how much our students will grow and learn from this project! #UTK #RHTM #RetailMerchandising #TSC #FieldTrip #Education #ThankYou #LearningExperience

Our department had a fantastic time at the 2024 DECA EAST TN District Competition engaging with brilliant students who will make a big impact in their chosen fields in the future. Our department leadership, staff, ambassadors and advisory board members all assisted as judges for the event and we set up a table to talk more about our majors in Retail and Merchandising Management and Hospitality and Tourism Management.

We are so grateful for our partnership with UT College of Communication & Information and LEO Events to provide meaningful learning experiences and opportunities to our students interested in corporate event planning. We have 4 Hospitality and Tourism students participating in the inaguaral LEO Fellows cohort and we could not be more proud of them.
We were thrilled to welcome LEO Events for the inaugural LEO Lab session with the LEO Events Fellows. Led by LEO Events Principals Cindy (’91) and Kevin Brewer, the session provided the Fellows with valuable insights into the intricacies of RFPs in the event planning industry. It was inspiring to see our CCI and RHTM students dive into this collaborative experience with industry leaders!

Great teamwork between RHTM and VolShop!
Lights, camera, ACTION! Brian Wright and Cory Hamm recently joined forces with Professor Jason Carpenter from the Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism Management program to record several digital learning videos for the RMM 210 class! We are so incredibly honored to have the VolShop represented as a business for retail management students to learn more about. We discussed strategic planning, different forms of marketing, and even innovation with the Pepper robot! While the format and technicality of the videos was much different from Brian and Cory’s Tiny Mic Show videos, it was such a cool experience to see how digital learning video production differs from social media video production. The folks behind the camera for digital learning are so talented and knowledgeable. The care and expertise put into digital learning is yet another reason why the University of Tennessee is a university on the rise! ?? #digitallearning #universityoftennessee #utknoxville #retailmanagement #volshop
