Carina is the Founder and Principal Architect of Restructure Studio and Arbor Plans, where she leads with vision, creativity, and a fierce commitment to design excellence. Her work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Dwell, and showcased on the prestigious AIA Austin Homes Tour. A graduate of Rice University with a BA in Architecture and Art History, Carina began her career with Miró Rivera Architects in 2003. In 2010, she founded Restructure Studio shortly after the birth of her first child, and in 2018, she expanded her entrepreneurial journey to include Arbor Plans, a firm offering pre-designed home plans to make sustainable architecture accessible to more people. Beyond her practice, Carina is a passionate advocate for women in architecture, mentoring the next generation of designers and leading initiatives with AIA Austin. Recently, she has been actively involved in the J.E.D.I. (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion), AIA Austin Women in Architecture, and Residential Advocacy committees, working to make the architecture field more inclusive and accessible for all. Last night, we had the honor of attending the Preservation Austin Merit Award ceremony, where the Hartford Residence was recognized for its outstanding contribution to preserving Austin's architectural heritage. ?? It was an inspiring night, celebrating the passion and dedication of everyone who worked on this project—from architects to craftsmen, preservationists, and designers. The Hartford Residence stands as a testament to the power of blending historic preservation with modern living, and it was humbling to see it receive such a prestigious award. A special thank you to Preservation Austin for this recognition and for their unwavering commitment to preserving the character of our city.
