Nothing feels better at Thanksgiving than knowing you are part of a caring community! Reston Community Center has partnered with the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstones to support families in our community during our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. You can participate by donating non-perishable food and essential items at designated drop-off points now through Friday, November 22. ? All collected donations will benefit Cornerstones, a nonprofit organization that promotes self-sufficiency by providing support and advocacy for those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other human services. Cornerstones will distribute the donations to local families. We encourage individuals, businesses and organizations to participate and help our neighbors. ? Here is a list of needed non-perishable items: - Canned fruits and vegetables - Cooking oils (such as olive, canola and vegetable) - Boxed or bagged rice, noodles, pasta and baking mixes - Dried or canned beans - Canned tuna - Soups (canned or packaged) - Flour, sugar and spices ? Gift cards for groceries are also welcome, as they allow families to purchase perishable items. Please place gift cards in envelopes separately from food donations. ? You can drop off any of these items at either Reston Community Center location or at the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce. For additional drop-off locations and volunteer opportunities ?? https://bit.ly/3NJwqNC Thank you in advance for your generosity.

“At Reston Community Center, we’re dedicated to offering high quality events and high-quality leisure time to the Reston community, and we’re very passionate about that, and we want art, music, and entertainment to be accessible to everyone,” said Heiligh. “And the best way to do that is to get more concerts out there and give people more options of places they can go for free to, you know, enjoy their family.” Listen for exciting entertainment news https://bit.ly/4c7pX9n

Leadership Fairfax presented its 2024 Katherine K. Hanley Award for Public Service to Leila Gordon, RCC’s Executive Director, who has successfully served our community since 1983. Gordon plans to retire at the end of the year. When asked for a single word to describe her legacy, Gordon responded, "Love." "I love Reston; I love my job; and I love what the community has meant to the people who live here. I love what has been given to me — a program that has been incredibly satisfying, rewarding, and emotional. I love the people I work for, what we get to do together, and how strong this community's foundation is." #buildingcommunity #enrichinglives
