Today at The Royal Society, we have hosted #researchers and #innovators from our Impact Accelerator and International Partnership projects, to network before the end of their funding and facilitate exchange of ideas in support of new #research and #impact collaborations. The projects teams came together and shared groundbreaking work that's shaping the #responsibleAI landscape both in the UK and globally. We’re excited to share a new addition to the Scottish AI Playbook: the Royal Academy of Engineering's latest report - Engineering Responsible AI: Foundations for Environmentally Sustainable AI. This report outlines five foundational steps to help organisations - public and private - reduce AI’s impact on energy, water, and critical materials. While the report is aimed at policymakers, the recommendations are valuable for anyone developing or using AI. ?? Why this matters: ? AI’s resource demands are significant - this report provides practical steps to minimise environmental harm. ?It encourages a shift from reactive to proactive sustainability in AI development. ?It’s the first in a series of reports from the Royal Academy of Engineering on responsible AI, with more to come in 2025.
