As the Associate Director of the Campbell-Wright HBCU Gullah Geechee Internship Program, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has shared our flyer, supported the program, and helped spread the word about this incredible opportunity. ???? This program is not just about internships—it’s a call to action to preserve the stories, traditions, and resilience of the Gullah Geechee people while empowering HBCU students to lead in cultural preservation. The overwhelming response we’ve received so far reminds me of the strength of community and the importance of our shared mission. I am honored to help lead this initiative and to work alongside such passionate students, partners, and cultural leaders. Please continue sharing this opportunity with your networks—together, we can ensure this program reaches as many students as possible. Let’s keep the momentum going! ??? Application Deadline: March 15, 2025??? Learn More & Apply: https://lnkd.in/ejy5DMM4 Thank you for your support—it means the world. ??? Introducing Zuzu, a hermit crab that uses a plastic bottle for a shell.?Zuzu symbolizes the urgent need to address plastic waste. If we are going to solve the plastic waste crisis we need regulation. Our goal is to start a movement, and get legislators in this country, and elsewhere, to act. We all must speak up. ? You’ll be hearing more from Zuzu in the next few weeks. In the meantime, follow Zuzu’s journey and, most importantly, help us get?recycling reform to keep plastic waste out of the environment: https://lnkd.in/gY4imkr2 #JoinZuzu

Southern Gullah/Geechee Folk/Soul Artist/Musician??performing Interdisciplinary forms of art honoring my Ancestors, illuminating as a Sound Healer of Social & Environmental Justice for our overall Health & Wellness.

This song was birthed by ALL of the amazing people in the room. This was a Sound Clinic (you may call it a workshop) Each person shared their words of empowerment and Mahoganee used her power of improvisation to form a Song. The power of Improvisation is using your instincts, letting it flow and happening naturally like the flow of water. It will find its way. We talked about our spiritual connection to Water & Land How water helps inner Healing take place. In these krazy ratchet times we need inner peace and soul healing. Educational Leader | Equity Advocate | Speaker. Elevating the Potential of Historically Disadvantaged Students through Strategic Coaching and Professional Development.

I spent years teaching at Title 1 schools, wondering why Black students often had lower academic achievement than their peers. It wasn’t until years after I left public schools, that I discovered the work of Gloria Ladson-Billings—the visionary behind Culturally Relevant Teaching—that it finally clicked for me: the problem is NOT the students. ?? I’m thrilled to introduce my new YouTube channel, a space dedicated to tackling the challenges of public education through a lens of racial equity. Together, we’ll dive into history, share insights, and explore stories that empower you to connect more deeply with your students, understand their communities, and create transformational educational experiences. If you're ready to shift perspectives, build better relationships, and make a real difference for Black students in your own classroom or school building, this channel is for you. Don’t forget to ?? subscribe ?? to the channel so you never miss a video, and share it with fellow educators who are passionate about making a difference! ?? https://lnkd.in/gU_gsa5S #EducationalEquity #Teachers #CulturallyResponsiveTeaching #EducationTransformation #SocialJusticeInSchools

Responsible Innovation Architect | Turning Complex Challenges into Inclusive Products That Expand Human Potential

My oldest son will turn 10 in a couple of months, and his curiosity is really starting to grow. Yesterday, as we were driving home from visiting family friends, he asked me, "Daddy, why is Uncle James' neighborhood so much cleaner than ours?" Once again, I found myself explaining why some communities are different. As my boys get older, they’re becoming more aware of the world around them. When my wife and I decided to buy a home in the neighborhood where I grew up, it was with the hope of helping to strengthen our community. While we’ve done our part, I’ll admit that sometimes I question our decision, especially given the challenges that come with living in a historically neglected and under-resourced area. I live in Kansas City, where the divide between races and classes is stark. The city has heavily concentrated resources on one side, while the other side struggles with the systemic issues that keep it behind. Unfortunately, this isn’t unique to Kansas City—it’s a pattern seen in communities across the U.S. These divides often stem from policies made by a few, which end up harming many. This mini-book is inspired by my son’s question. How do you explain Environmental Racism to a kid? ...welp...here we go! Next time you’re explaining why some communities look different, give this a quick read and share it with your kids. If you’ve experienced environmental racism, please share your story in the comments. Your perspective and solutions can help shine a light on this important issue. Please comment, share, like! I invite you to download a copy for your kids, students, or anyone you think would benefit! Here is the direct https://shorturl.at/zjBHr #America #Education #Environment #Justice
