CF Industries today outlined cost estimates for its planned blue ammonia project in Louisiana, saying it is optimistic about prospective returns when only accounting for traditional ammonia markets. The 1.4 million metric ton plant at CF’s Blue Point Complex in Ascension Parish is expected to cost around $4bn all-in, CEO W. Anthony Will said on a call today, adding that an ongoing FEED study should sharpen those cost estimates further. That price tag is justified when considering only existing markets for ammonia, he said, and is further justified with the addition of new, energy-related applications and emerging carbon pricing schemes, such as CBAM. #blueammonia https://lnkd.in/eTCx7AcN

W2E Renewable Solutions, an early-stage developer with proprietary process technology for the conversion of cow manure to hydrogen, is conducting a development capital raise. The firm’s technology could compete with anaerobic digesters, as it uses thermolysis on cow manure to produce a hydrogen-rich gas stream along with clean graphite char that can be used as an industrial additive. The gas stream can be processed on site into hydrogen, RNG, or methanol. W2e’s plant could also work side by side with anaerobic digesters, taking the byproduct solids to make additional hydrogen. Proceeds from the fundraising round will be used to advance its first project in Central Colorado to FID in approximately nine months. Some large numbers are getting thrown around in Newfoundland. Abraxas Power said this week that it has received pre-certification for its green hydrogen and ammonia as RFNBO-compliant fuels, which will be produced at a CAD 12bn ($8.87bn) project in Newfoundland (Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Corporation). That follows an environmental assessment filing this month from EverWind Fuels, a developer with sights on a CAD 16bn ($11.83bn) green ammonia project on the island – and that’s just for phase 1. #greenhydrogen #greenammonia #canada image: Tim Foster on Unsplash https://lnkd.in/gqbWhgpU
