Thanks to the diligent work of RII’s Carmen Azzaretti and Bryce Carleton, this first of its kind report summarizes trends and findings relevant to CEA from the USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. The report includes thoughtfully designed data visualizations and digestible pieces of information, enabling stakeholders to easily understand and act on the findings. We believe in the importance of accessible information to drive innovation and progress within the industry; as such, we are providing selected pages and findings from the full report for free. CEA also reduces the need for large-scale land use, minimizes water waste, and limits the use of pesticides. By controlling temperature, light, humidity, and nutrients, CEA operations can create environments that maximize crop yields while also developing resource-efficient systems.
