Last week, they celebrated its Grand Opening and couldn't be more excited to see this state-of-the-art facility come to life. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this vision to reality!

We’re thrilled to share exciting progress on the Transbay Block 2 East development! Resonance Acoustics (formerly CSDA Acoustics) is providing acoustical consulting to the architect team led by Kennerly Architecture & Planning and supported by Y.A. studio. This project will provide 160 affordable housing units for families, along with retail spaces, a childcare center, and community areas. On March 1, the pouring of Level 5 concrete began, marking a significant milestone toward realizing this community-centric development. As work progresses toward topping out in July 2025, we’re excited to see how this project will help shape the future of San Francisco’s Transbay District and create lasting community impact. Congratulations SF State College of Science & Engineering for the inspiring dedication ceremony today of the Science and Engineering Innovation Center and co-home for San Francisco State University | College of Professional & Global Education. Over 250 guests participated including students, faculty, administrators, industry partners, former and current civic leaders, donors, and the amazing design-build team including SF State CPDC, SmithGroup DPR Construction and our talented consultants. It was an inspirational program and I was humbled to represent our team in sharing our joy and continuing support of this brave, ambitious, and value driven STEM program - especially the next generation of students coming into higher education. The generous faculty and students shared informative tours of innovative interdisciplinary research ??. Special Thanks to Dean Carmen Domingo, Kwok Siong Teh Teaster Baird, Jr., and CoSE Faculty, President Lynn Mahoney and fundraisers, Dr. Ken Fong, Honorable Willie Brown, Jr., Jason Porth and CPDC lead Barry Jodatian for your vision and leadership. Congratulations! Sagar Chavan, AIA, LEED-AP, and the entire The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) Team!
One more feather in the cap for my talented design and construction Team for the Bellflower Radiation Oncology Center!! We recently won the Los Angeles Business Council (LABC) Healthcare Award!! The design of this new cancer care facility was based on the emotional well-being of the patients and our design approach was to provide a peaceful yet inspiring exterior form and an uplifting and comforting interior environment that would provide hope to the cancer patients. This cancer center is an all-electric building and the sustainability highlight is a low EUI of 20. Construction schedule was expedited by using proprietary moment frame bolted system (by SidePlate), pre-fabricated exterior wall panels with Porcelanosa USA cladding and interior pre-fabricated walls by DIRTT. The fritted glass pattern is inspired by the "Belle-fleur" apple tree, which is the local to the area. Thank you team for all your hard work! Last week, we celebrated the grand opening of the City College of San Francisco’s STEAM Building with our partners at Rudolph and Sletten, Kitchell, Rutherford + Chekene, Creo Landscape Architecture and Kuth Ranieri Architects. When considering the design elements for the STEAM building, SmithGroup design lead F. Jason Campbell aimed to delve deeper into the intersection of art and science. The firm achieved this by embracing every architectural detail, both inside and out. Inside, the building fosters spontaneous interactions, blending art and science in dynamic ways, highlighted by a 30 x 60-foot mural. Outside, the textured fa?ade transforms throughout the day as shadows dance across its surface. #HigherEducation #STEAMBuilding #DesignABetterFuture

Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Radiation Oncology has been honored with the Healthcare Award of Merit from Engineering News-Record! This is a tremendous honor, and we are excited to share this achievement with all of you. Our collaboration with Kaiser Permanente aimed to create a design that would inspire and offer hope to critically ill cancer patients. We envisioned a distinctive “river” concept, where the central public space represents a flowing river, flanked by two symbolic “riverbanks.” This design symbolizes the resilience of both the river and the human spirit. Just as a river navigates around obstacles and continues its journey, we hope this space will embody the strength and perseverance of those who walk through it. With its Grand Opening in May, this facility will contribute in expanding Kaiser Permanente's Cancer Care, Radiation Oncology Services, in Southern California.
