A new era of performance art is unfolding at the Park Avenue Armory. Anne Imhof, one of today’s most talked-about artists, unveils “DOOM: House of Hope” March 3–12 at the Park Avenue Armory, marking her most ambitious performance yet. Known for her raw, immersive works, including the Charles Gordon Trust Golden Lion Awards-winning “Faust” at the 2017 Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia, Imhof continues to push the boundaries of choreography, sound, and visual art. With “DOOM,” she reimagines “Romeo and Juliet” through a contemporary lens, embracing chance, agency, and unfiltered emotion. Is New York ready? Michelle Ebanks, President and CEO of the Apollo Theater, shares how the Apollo remains a beacon of ambition and artistic excellence — rooted in Harlem, but shaping culture worldwide. It's more than a stage; it stands as a permanent testament to Black creativity, ambition, and resilience. Honoring Black history means uplifting the voices and institutions that keep its legacy alive. #RapidResponse #ApolloTheater #NYC #BlackHistoryMonth

After two years of restoration, Claude Monet's "Waterlilies" (1914-15) returns to the Portland Art Museum with its original hues fully restored. The de-varnishing process has revealed the painting's true tonalities, reflecting Monet's intention to capture the "aura" of his Giverny pond rather than a literal depiction. On view starting March 1, the restoration restores the vibrancy and subtle depth that had been muted by previous varnishing. Challenging traditional views of art, Carl Cheng's retrospective at the Institute of Contemporary Art at University of Pennsylvania, celebrates the intersection of nature and technology. From his ephemeral "Santa Monica Art Tool" to innovative installations, Cheng’s work reminds us of the dynamism of nature and the role of technology in shaping it. As California faces environmental challenges, his art becomes a poignant commentary on the precarity of our built environment.
