Resilient Energy Technology and Infrastructure (RETI) Consortium

Creating an ecosystem of resilient energy innovation
关于我们
The Resilient Energy Technology and Infrastructure (RETI) consortium was created to innovate and implement critical technologies for decarbonization and grid resiliency. With funding from the National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines program, RETI is building a network of partners across research, industry, non-profit, workforce, capital, and government to advance equitable and economically viable solutions to shape the future of the energy transition. Created in the heart of central Appalachia, a historic energy producing region, RETI will lay the groundwork for next generation industrial energy efficiency and the development of grid infrastructure that securely and reliably balances power supply and demand. In partnership with West Virginia University, University of Pittsburgh, and Carnegie Mellon University, RETI will advance the region through innovation, while returning economic equity to our communities. If you are interested in partnering or supporting our efforts, please connect.

What an incredible event in downtown Pittsburgh as team AST joined this year’s Evolving Energy + RETI Tech Showcase- a really compelling event focused on emerging #decarbonization technologies and the future of #energy. The discussions were insightful, and the cutting-edge research and #startups from the southwestern PA/WV region truly showcased the innovation happening in energy, clean tech, and climate tech. AST’s Arria Hines was a judge in the competition as well where $300,000 was awarded to selected tech start ups! Events like this remind us how important it is to stay focused on the future and continue driving innovation in our industry. ??? #ASTCares #EnergyInnovation #CleanTech #Decarbonization

We’re thrilled to have Valerie Karplus as part of the RETI team! Her extensive expertise is a tremendous asset to the consortium.
How artificial intelligence can empower a sustainable future was the topic of a panel at the AI Horizons Summit, which featured Associate Director of the CMU Scott Institute for Energy Innovation and professor of engineering and public policy Valerie Karplus. CMU alumnus and co-founder of Pearl Street Technologies David Bromberg also took part in the conversation, sharing insight on the importance of automation in his work with physics-based grid optimization. The U.S. National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines (NSF Engines) program announced that 71 teams spanning nearly every state and territory in the nation are advancing to the next stage of the second-ever competition. The program is charting a new frontier for American innovation according to the bipartisan "CHIPS and Science Act of 2022." The teams selected to submit full proposals stand to build upon an inaugural cohort of regions nationwide that are bringing technology-driven economic and workforce development to all parts of the United States. Explore the interactive map: https://bit.ly/48oCBQw. The invited teams highlight the broad interest in the NSF Engines program and show great promise in building regional ecosystems that will accelerate breakthrough technologies, leading to economic development. Of the 71 teams invited to submit full proposals to the NSF Engines program, 23 — or nearly one-third — are led by organizations located in NSF Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research jurisdictions; 13 are led by organizations new to NSF funding; 23 are led by nonacademic organizations; and nine are led by a minority-serving institution. In addition, nearly half of the teams advancing received an NSF Engines Development Award — effectively a planning grant. To learn more, visit https://bit.ly/3UnkWD6.
