BhB: Businesses helping Businesses...
Today was a big day---a team of family, employees, friends and volunteers made a caravan between Costco and our Mauldin Warehouse for a big purchase, hauling, repalletizing of water. So far, we have collected water donations and funds to gather over 14,000 bottles of water this week. I just got off the phone with our customer in WNC, and here are a few key points for you: 1) Water is a must and need. There is some water working, but the majority of the water in and around Asheville pumps from a separate source, of which got major damage and is currently being fixed (around the clock, I'm told). However, the outlying areas will take much longer (months). 2) My customer has a large production plant (they started back up this week), with power, hot showers, and great facilities in which their employees can clean up before or after work. The employees span out in a 100 mile radius of this plant, and some of their families further than that. Everyone has been affected and continue to have needs, especially clean water. Being able to get a hot shower, grab a case of water and go home after working (and getting paid to work!), is really a blessing that you are a part of if you contributed. 3) This is a long road. We are working with other sources of bottled water and partners of ours in order to send in a full truckload of bottled water within the next month directly from the manufacturer to our customer, who will then distribute not only to their employees, but beyond---to the communities around them. We are not stopping this effort with this one run. As we gather more water locally, we'll continue to put skids of water onto our weekly truck run up to WNC. This is a team effort, and I am going to go ahead and call this one a WIN because of what many of you have done---you took a step of faith for the love of others. We have nearly half a truckload of bottled water leaving tomorrow morning to be delivered for our friends in need. Thank you, and on behalf of some of our friends in WNC, God bless you!
