In our virtual webinar hosted by O’Dwyer’s and moderated by our very own Tony Cheevers, there was a focus on “The Great Resignation” and “Quiet Quitting”. Dr. Kerry O’Grady, Faculty Director and Associate Professor of Practice, at Georgetown University led the discussion on how blame has mistakenly landed on the employee, which tends to overshadow the real issue that underlies these problems, a higher-up causing a negative workplace experience. O'Grady used the following metaphor to illustrate the steps needed to change a boss's perspective, stating "What happens after you’ve been on the train for a while? You know where the café car is, what end of the car has the bathroom, picked up on annoyances from fellow riders, etc. But if you were to move to a different car, you’d have to relearn the logistics of the train and adjust your viewpoint.” Listen to the webinar on O'Dwyer's, where you can also view the slide presentation and transcript.
