Holding onto unneeded prescription opioids can endanger individuals in the household who are facing addiction. The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities worked with Rescue Agency on a campaign to show community members how they can properly dispose of their prescription opioids to help prevent misuse. Congratulations to San Diego County and our change agents who created this incredible new teen mental health campaign: Own Your Mindset. Leading with empathy and a deep understanding of the mental health challenges teens face today, Own Your Mindset provides realistic ways teens can strengthen their mental health. #mentalhealthcampaigns #teenmentalhealth
I am stoked to finally be able to share a new mental health campaign for teens in San Diego County. Own Your Mindset engages teens with empathy and solid resources instead of the ole' "pull yourself up, you're just a teen" approach. I am the Creative Director for this project, but am just a small piece of the potato. Courtney Marsh really brought this visual to life. Check it out and tell me what you think. Sound on. Evidence-based substance use prevention campaigns have been proven to reduce substance use, but their success requires a deep understanding of the audience and the unique motivations behind their behaviors. This #SubstanceUsePreventionMonth, we’re celebrating the incredible impact substance use prevention campaigns have had in reducing use across the country. We’re proud of our work with LA County in creating our meth prevention campaign MethFree LA. Based on extensive audience research and insights, MethFree LA helped 82% of campaign-aware individuals who had previously experimented with the substance reduce their meth use. The mental health crisis continuously poses a threat to Americans as 1 in 4 U.S. adults feel affected. Mental Illness Awareness Week reminds us of the critical importance of creating effective health communications campaigns that address this growing mental health crisis and encourage support-seeking. San Diego Health and Human Services Agency partnered with Rescue Agency to create our It's Up to Us campaign, designed to help San Diegans recognize the signs of mental health challenges and find local resources. Check out the It’s Up to Us ad “Overloaded” now: https://bit.ly/3ByBUbe #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek #MentalHealth #SanDiego

Inhaling toxic chemicals from vaping can harm DNA, ultimately increasing the risk of getting cancer. To educate teens about the risks of vaping, we created the ad “In the Skin” as part of our ready-made vaping campaign Behind the Haze. The ad demonstrates how chemicals often found in vapes including formaldehyde and benzene can mutate DNA. Watch the ad now: https://bit.ly/3BwY4dV #VapingCessation #PublicHealth #YouthHealth
