Helping leaders with high sensory intelligence embrace their superpowers and find alignment

关于我们

How do you lead—at work and in your life? As a woman who’s a leader, you might feel very alone. As a highly perceptive woman, you probably face more challenges. How often do you feel heard, valued and respected? Show up as your whole self and voice your opinions without fear or anxiety? Prioritize your own mental and physical health before taking responsibility for everything and everyone else? If you’re not 100% confident in your responses to these questions, how do you lead your team or organization? How can you take care of others when you’re not taking care of yourself first? Some of the areas my clients have achieved success in working with me: Seasoned Leaders ? Communicating with confidence ? Setting and honoring boundaries ? Building effective, empowered teams ? Creating a safe, inclusive culture ? Finding work/life alignment & balance ? Recognizing & preventing burnout in yourself and others New & Emerging Leaders ? Building confidence (overcoming imposter syndrome) ? Transitioning from individual contributor to manager & leader ? Giving & receiving feedback ? Developing trust & relationships (managing up, down, and sideways) ? Managing conflict Leaders in Transition ? Finding clarity & direction ? Building resilience ? Becoming a better listener & speaker ? Leading a team and communicating through change ? Prioritizing self-care & self-advocacy Ways to work with me: When to say yes, and how to say no more effectively: A customized, 4-week program to help you make decisions more confidently, communicate your boundaries, and negotiate for better outcomes. Helping women leaders create the conditions they need to thrive | Certified professional coach | Speaker | Bestselling author, "Leading with Compassion" and "Perceptive" (June 2025)

If you’re a high-achieving woman leader in a male-dominated industry, company or team, I’d love to hear from you: ?? What’s the #1 challenge you’re facing right now, and what do you want instead? ?? When we don’t acknowledge our struggles, here’s what happens: - We carry them alone. - We push through, even when it’s exhausting. And burn ourselves out. - We tell ourselves it’s not that bad—until it is. You don’t have to say it out loud to the world. But at least don’t ignore it. If you’re not ready to share publicly, message me. No pressure, no agenda. I just want to listen.

A client wanted to do a life wheel, where we look at all the different aspects of her life—all the various people and things she spends her time and energy on—and whether any are out of alignment with her goals and values. I’ve done this activity with a lot of clients, and this particular one was unusual in a couple of ways. 1.???????The wheel was actually pretty balanced, meaning no one section stood out dramatically more than the others. 2.???????There were more spokes/sections of the wheel than I’ve ever seen before. On the surface, this might look like someone who lives a very active life, is involved in a lot of activities, and carefully allocates her time among them. And those things are all true. I encouraged her to celebrate them. What else is true? She feels continually overwhelmed by all of her responsibilities and frequently frustrated by the lack of progress or impact she’s making in any of them. Something that stood out to me immediately as we were drawing her life wheel, and which I reflected back to her a few times, was the number of “shoulds” that came up. ·?????Shoulds around being a good citizen and community member ·?????Shoulds around taking on extra responsibilities at work, often unasked and unrewarded / uncompensated / unacknowledged ·?????Shoulds around time spent with extended family She was clear on her values, and on the things that bring her joy. But the shoulds kept getting in her way. She was giving equal time and energy to the shoulds—which means, inevitably, that there’s not enough left for the things she truly values and that bring her joy. ?The life wheel was a powerful visual illustration of this. It prompted her to begin the process of examining those shoulds and crafting a plan: to weed out the ones she could stop doing immediately and take steps to hand off or eliminate the others as soon as possible. It’s a process; there’s no instant solution here. But now she has a strategy that will ensure that she’s spending her resources on the things that are most important to her—and that she assesses all future requests and opportunities through a new lens. When’s the last time you looked at your “life wheel”? What are some of the shoulds you’re carrying? What’s getting in your way? ----- ? I help leaders with fast, busy minds realign life + work to create the conditions they need to thrive. And I offer tailored packages to suit fast, busy lives. Ready to get out of your own way? How often do you ask for what you need? A theme’s come up in many conversations recently with clients, colleagues, and friends: 2025 has been off to a slow, weird start. I used to hit the ground running. New job, new home, new year—same concept. I’d make a list of everything I wanted to do and charge through that list as quickly as possible. Not so this year. A lot of us got sick at the end of last year, took a long time to recover. A lot of us are still trying to find ways to deal with the political and societal realities of the next few years, in the US and around the world. A lot of us are currently facing or living with the fallout from devastating natural disasters, ongoing war and inexplicable violence. None of this is new, but it feels somehow heavier this year. Denser. We’ve all been through a lot in the last several years. We’re strong and resourceful and resilient—and, at some point, something has to give. I’m actually feeling really good about this slow start. It’s given me an opportunity to be much more intentional about how I spend my time. I’m prioritizing in a way I never have before. I’m clear about my goals and my values and making decisions that align with both. I’m also getting much better about paying attention to what I need—and asking for or taking it. - Accepting fewer meeting invitations - Adding more buffer time to your calendar - *Not* watching or reading the news - Getting away from your computer and taking a walk - Stopping work when your brain is done for the day - Sleeping in on the weekend - Asking your partner to do the cooking, shopping or cleaning - Getting a babysitter so you can have a night out with friends - Rescheduling the regular 8am meeting to 9am to give yourself some you time - Splurging on something that relaxes you, nourishes you, or brings you joy What do you need? Who do you need to ask for it? Often, the only person we need permission from is … us. How often do you ask for what you need? And how often do you let yourself take it? ?? I serve as a strategic thought partner to women leaders who are wired a little differently. When you’re ready to realign life and work and create the conditions you need to thrive, I’d love to support you. DM me or use the link on my profile to schedule a clarity call. ??

How do you lead with compassion?

Helping women leaders create the conditions they need to thrive | Certified professional coach | Speaker | Bestselling author, "Leading with Compassion" and "Perceptive" (June 2025)

What does leading with compassion mean to you? When I got the invitation from Changing Work to contribute a chapter to the second in a series of collaborative books on conscious leadership topics, this question took me deep. Already well into the first draft of my manuscript for my solo book, “Perceptive” (also coming out this year), writing my chapter for “Leading with Compassion” brought me back to periods of my life that I’d buried long ago. Experiences I hadn’t shared with anyone for decades. ?? As I read through the chapters by the 24+ other authors, I’m both moved by the stories and fascinated by the breadth of interpretations of the topic—always part of the fun of collaborative book projects. Mark February 14 on your calendar for the release of “Leading with Compassion.” Let’s make this day about more than flowers and chocolates, and celebrate all of our love and connection. ?? Sign up to be notified about the book’s release, join the Changing Work mailing list, and maybe even contribute to a future book yourself. Research published last week in the “Japanese Journal of Applied Psychology” explores the impact of environmental sensitivity in the workplace. The study found—unsurprisingly—that “individuals scoring higher on sensitivity measures reported experiencing more workplace stress and feelings of alienation. However, they also demonstrated significantly higher levels of empathy compared to their less sensitive counterparts.” The senior researcher noted that what can sometimes be seen as a vulnerability might actually be a valuable asset to organizations. “For organizations, these insights carry significant implications for workplace design and management. Traditional support systems … may fall short if they don’t account for the diverse needs of employees…. Creating more inclusive and supportive environments could improve both employee retention and overall?workplace well-being.” Having spent decades as an employee and a leader who’s highly sensitive to my environment, I’m passionate about raising awareness of this trait (and the gifts & challenges that come with it) and helping people who struggle with it learn how to create the conditions they need to thrive. That’s why I wrote “Perceptive,” and I’m thrilled that early readers have found value in it both for themselves and their organizations. ?? Today—Monday, January 6—is the final day of the fundraising event to get “Perceptive” published. Please consider supporting the campaign today: https://lnkd.in/gvjY4EX5 ?? Looking for help setting yourself, your team members, or your organization up for success? DM me—I’d love to support you.

Set all your team members up for success in 2025—make neurodiversity part of your inclusion initiatives.

Leaders: Will 2025 be the year neurodiversity becomes a component of your inclusion efforts? Your team has super-smart, talented, highly competent members who probably aren’t achieving the levels of success they could be. And it might take only one or two small adjustments to create the conditions they need to thrive—and contribute hugely to the team’s overall performance and productivity. How do I know? Because research shows that these highly perceptive folks, who have a trait sometimes known as environmental sensitivity, or sensory processing sensitivity, make up about 30% of the global population. 30% is a lot. The trait doesn’t come with a diagnosis—it’s not a disorder. (There are online self-assessments, though; if you’re interested, DM me for more info.) But people don’t typically self-disclose, for a variety of reasons: -?????????????They might not have heard of the trait themselves. -?????????????Because of the lack of understanding of the trait, they might not realize they have it. It manifests in different ways in everyone. -?????????????They don’t want to be associated with the very real stigma of being sensitive, at least in a work context. So many workplaces now hire for “culture fit.” Chances are, a lot of these people are masking to fit in—they can get very good at it. Their brains are working overtime, but the energy and effort required to hide aspects of themselves means they’re rarely functioning at their best. Ironically, they’re likely some of your top employees—but if things don’t change, you’ll never get their best work out of them. Want to learn more? Let’s talk. My book, “Perceptive,” highlights both the many strengths these team members often have and some of the challenges they face, especially at work. I need to raise another $3.4K by January 6 for my hybrid publisher to move forward—and the manuscript has already gotten great reviews. ??? Book me for a virtual talk or custom workshop on high sensitivity, neurodiversity and inclusion or related topics for your team or organization at a huge discount by January 6 and start the team’s 2025 off right! You’ll also be helping get these important messages out into the world. What will you do in 2025 to make your work environment and culture more inclusive for all? 2024 by the numbers... or better, not ?? Happy holidays!

It’s hard to resist looking at the year in numbers, isn’t it? If we can quantify it, it matters. Literally, it counts. Purely according to the numbers, 2024 wasn’t a good year for me. Although I’ve been coaching leaders for years, this was the first full year of running my own business. It’s been even harder than I expected. And… 2024 has been amazing on so many levels. Almost everything I did this year was out of my comfort zone. I learned a ton. A few achievements I’m proud of: ·??????? Witnessed my clients learning to own their power in many different ways, redesign and realign aspects of their lives and work to align with their values and goals and start to thrive. ·??????? Launched another cohort of my G.R.I.T. Collaborative mastermind and am thrilled with the relationships that are forming and the insights we leave every session with. ·??????????? Facilitated 14 executive roundtables with women corporate and business leaders who identify as highly sensitive or wired a little differently. ·??????? Hosted a series of 5 public conversations about neurodivergence in the workplace. ·???????? Guested on 12 podcasts and spoke to corporate women’s ERGs. ·??????? Wrote a book! And launched a fundraising campaign to get it published. “Perceptive” is due out in summer 2025. ·??????? Wrote a chapter for a collaborative book, “Leading With Compassion,” due out in February. ·??????? Named to inaugural 50 over 50 Women in Tech List. ·??????? Met, reconnected with, and deepened relationships with a lot of amazing people I’m thrilled to have in my life. The struggles are real, but I’m much happier doing what I love. Looking forward to so much more of the good things to come. ?? However you celebrate the end of the year, I wish you and yours a joyful holiday season and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2025! ??

As the year ends, many of us are planning events and hosting family and friends and doing holiday shopping and cooking as we're finishing work projects and tying up other loose ends. It can be a stressful, as well as joyful, time of year for so many, for so many reasons. Give yourself the gift of listening to what your body and soul need, and nourishing them just as you feed your family and holiday guests. I'm taking some much-needed time off for the next couple of weeks, so won't be quite as active here, although I'll still be checking in. What will you do to take care of yourself over the holidays?
