  • Excited to share that we've refreshed the Reprieve website to better reflect our brand identity! The new site brings our mission to life through clean design and intuitive navigation. I especially encourage you to explore our "Our Philanthropists" page, where you can see some of the incredible supporters making our work possible. https://lnkd.in/eggnYRmP Huge thanks to the talented team at Pivot for their outstanding branding and design work, and to Sam Schnitzler at Universal for bringing the vision to life through expert web development. We now have a digital home that truly embodies our mission. Check it out and let us know what you think! https://lnkd.in/e4sUhmnJ?

  • One of the most common questions I get at Reprieve is, "Why does therapy sometimes take so long?" But mental health isn't a destination. It's a process. Healing happens gradually. I found this poem, which pretty much sums it up: you've just come in from a rainstorm you can't expect to be immediately dry warm and comfortable but you can do the little things take off the heavy clothing turn on the coffee pot wrap yourself in a blanket one small thing at a time Each therapy session is like one of those "little things"—a warm blanket, a hot drink, a piece of dry clothing. For kids who've lost a parent, the cold might feel like it's become part of who they are. For kids whose parents divorced, each small step, each gentle act of self-care, moves them closer to warmth. Their healing deserves all the time it needs to unfold.

  • Shortly before the last Chanukah of my brother Moshe Yidy’s life – he was just 31 years old – I walked into his house to this scene: He, his wife, and his young kids were sitting around their dining room table, surrounded by wrapping paper and gifts. A year before, he had "adopted" a girl from the Beis Lepleitos orphanage in Israel, meaning he’d undertaken to provide for her basic needs. And so, he had bought her a beautiful doll to send as a Chanukah present. But on his way home from the toy store, Moshe Yidy realized that there were about 20 other girls in her cohort, some without sponsors. He couldn't bear the thought of them watching their friend receive a gift while they got none. Without hesitation, he returned to the store and bought presents for EVERY SINGLE girl. This was my brother's essence - seeing beyond the immediate act of kindness to its ripple effects on others. In my brother’s memory, I established Reprieve. In my brother’s memory, I continue to ask myself: Who else needs light in their life? Who else needs healing? #Chanukah #MentalHealth #Charity #Healing #JewishCommunity #NonProfit #TherapyForAll

What's the Ripple chat? It's a fabulous chat group on Whatsapp, where we share some of the stories that come our way. https://lnkd.in/dBy6ubfa Every week or two (depending on what comes our way), we share a unique opportunity to support a specific need for one of the families we serve – something beyond our core therapy services. They're special moments where you can make a direct, meaningful difference in someone's life. It's simply humans being human. Being there for each other. There's absolutely no obligation to donate. Feel free to read, reflect, and engage at your comfort level. If a particular opportunity speaks to your heart and you're able to help, wonderful! If not, that's completely okay too. Join us, and let’s create ripples of hope together! https://lnkd.in/dBy6ubfa (Remember: you can leave at any time. If you like what you see, stay. If not, just exit the group. There's no downside to checking it out.)

  • There's an old story about a monkey who saw a fish struggling in the water. With the best intentions, the monkey pulled the fish onto dry land, believing he was saving its life. But in that moment of misguided compassion, the fish died. When children experience the profound emotional upheaval of losing a parent or navigating their parents' divorce, well-intentioned but untrained support can sometimes do more harm than good. Children's emotional landscapes are complex. Healing requires more than good wishes—it demands specialized, professional therapeutic intervention. Not all help is created equal. #ChildMentalHealth #FamilySupport #MentalWellness #ProfessionalTherapy

  • I've witnessed something profound working with families at Reprieve: Even in moments of deepest pain, there is an extraordinary resilience within children. Yes, divorce and loss of a parent can fracture a child's world. But what emerges afterward is nothing short of miraculous. I've seen children transform their pain into strength, adaptability, and deep emotional intelligence. They learn to rebuild, to love differently, to understand complexity with grace. And isn't that the beautiful truth of life? Our most challenging moments often become our most powerful teachers. Every mundane task can be a gesture of love. Every challenge can be an opportunity for growth.

  • Celebrating One Year! This past Friday, our Board gathered for a special milestone: Reprieve's first anniversary! As we reflected on our journey and charted our course forward, I was struck by the profound impact we've made in just 365 days. In our first year, starting from nothing, we've funded approximately $75,000 in therapy sessions for children navigating the loss of a parent or the challenges of divorce. That's one therapy session every single day of the year – 365 opportunities to help a child heal. But the numbers only tell part of the story. When we help a child process their grief, we're not just healing one heart – we're strengthening entire family systems. One child doing well creates a positive ripple effect that touches parents, siblings, and future generations. This is more than mental healthcare. This is generational change in action. We're not just building bridges over troubled waters – we're building foundations for stronger families. Here's to year one, and to the countless lives we'll touch in the years ahead. #MentalHealth #ChildrensMentalHealth #NonProfit #CommunityImpact #FamilySupport #Healing
