I’m honored today, Jan 6, to start as CEO of RepresentUs and help fuel the movement for a US government that is truly accountable to the people. Four years after a mob tried to subvert the democratic process, the challenges ahead are immense. The growing influence of money in politics; weak guardrails against corruption; and moves to weaponize the justice system, rig elections, and intimidate critics mean we have our work cut out for us. But most Americans want a government that genuinely represents them. And I know from experience that when people come together across their differences to stand against corruption and for democratic accountability, amazing change is possible. Let's get to it!

You shouldn’t have to be independently wealthy to run for office, but Florida is the only state in the country with something enshrined in the state constitution to help make that a reality: A public campaign financing program. Now, special interests are trying to repeal this program with an amendment that would open the floodgates for corporations and billionaires to have even more influence over Florida elections.? Our Florida-based social media manager, Idel, is breaking down why voting NO on Amendment 6 is critical for fair elections in the state. Florida’s public campaign financing program has empowered voters and candidates outside the big-money bubble for years. Amendment 6 would end this program, giving more influence to wealthy interests. As a Florida resident, I’m alarmed by what’s at stake with this amendment, and I recently wrote an article explaining why it would dismantle our public campaign financing program—a safeguard against big money in our elections. Public financing strengthens our democracy by matching small donations and helping candidates from all backgrounds compete fairly. If Amendment 6 passes, this program will end, making it harder for everyday Floridians to make their voices heard in state politics.
