Our dedicated team of leaders shared transformative experiences, created lasting connections, and successfully championed the strength, solidarity, and creativity of our communities. ?? Stage 2 teams?competed for awards of up to $1 million over 12 months during the first stage of the grant, and will be using these funds to support ready-to-implement research-based pilot projects that have the potential for scalable, sustainable, and transferable impact on community-identified priorities.

I am extremely proud to share what I believe to be a very special app that has just launched. Meet re+connect -- the app that's daring to transform disaster preparedness based off of ??????. ????????????. ??????????????????. ????????????????: ????????????????????. ? Co-designed with the community, re+connect uses the day-to-day to prepare for the extraordinary: Disaster. (Admittedly becoming less and less “extraordinary,” and more so the norm in large thanks to climate change.) Which takes us to its point of contextual inception: Puerto Rico.?Rich in connection inextricable to its beautiful culture, tragically left in harm’s way every year to the havoc of hurricane season, as well as the equally relentless effects of colonialism, re+connect recognizes that more often than not, when it comes to last-mile disaster relief—when the stakes are at their most critical, when people’s lives and well-being hang in the balance— current infrastructure to get support and essential supplies over the line to the people who need them most...drastically falls short. But real always recognizes resilient, and to no one’s surprise, it’s the very communities in Puerto Rico that are left to take care of one another. re+connect understands that the networks to get things done, those who do the hard work day in and day out, on-island and off-island, federally-funded or grassroots, are already vibrantly, assuredly in place. So, re+ is supporting that. re+ is supporting ????????: helping redistribute power to those who already take action and also to those who, at the end of the day, just deserve better.?re+ is meeting them at the last-mile and making that last mile shorter, easier to navigate; helping to create a last-mile that is community-first.
