RePliForm is a custom electroplating house specializing in plating on plastic 3D printed parts and electroforming. The plating adds extra strength to the parts allowing a prototype to become functional as well as give a more metallic feel and look before sending it to production. We also can do finishing on this to give a metallic look and be able to see these parts before moving forward on the design.

In honor of the Olympics being in Paris this year, it only seemed fitting to print the Eiffel Tower....but why stop there. Who said 3D printed parts had to be fragile? Sometimes I get to feel like a magician when it comes to surpassing expectations of what is possible with Additive Manufacturing. At Formlabs we don’t print metal, but with improvements in electroplating technology we don’t always have to. Often users want metal because it’s what they are use to, but it can be expensive when other options exist. But still there exist situations where you need the look, the feel, the electrical or surface charectoristics on metals. Did you know you can get those for about 10% the cost of printing in metal? Pretty cool right? Special thanks to RePliForm, Inc. for there sample of a plated resin part. As you can see, I had some fun.
