Regardless of the industry, artificial intelligence is a concern for legislators across the country. Today, it is widely used in healthcare, and we should all be concerned. As part of my ongoing mission to protect patients, I’ve filed legislation in Illinois to prevent AI from denying patients access to medical care or rejecting prescriptions ordered by their doctors. Medical debt is a national crisis that demands immediate action. That’s why I’m proud to have supported Governor JB Pritzker's initiative to forgive $1 billion in medical debt for Illinois residents. Illinois is one of the first states in the nation to address this issue, and I’m excited to share that in this first round of relief, eligible individuals will see an average of $1,349 in debt forgiven.

As Veterans Day approaches, I was grateful to join Congressman Brad Schneider’s Veterans Breakfast at the College of Lake County. Let us never forget the sacrifices our veterans have made for our country. May we continue to reach out, and listen to the stories of those who have given so much to protect our freedom.
