Communications Director: Our beloved Communications Director will be on military leave starting in August and will be gone for approximately/at least 14 months. We are looking for an experienced communications professional to join our team during her absence. Upon her return, Chrissy and team will (of course!) do everything we can to help our interim Communications Director find an awesome new job. ? The Communications Director is responsible for managing all internal and external communications and messaging activities to support our robust, constituent-driven operation, is a member of senior staff, and reports to the Chief of Staff. ? Essential job functions include drafting statements, press releases, speeches, and other written materials that capture Chrissy’s voice; developing and implementing media, communications, and public relations strategies; building relationships with local reporters, TV bookers, and national political reporters and proactively pitching on issues of importance to Chrissy; responding to media inquiries, working with Scheduler to coordinate, prepping Chrissy for interviews; working closely with District Director to develop district events that local press will cover; and supervising Press Secretary/Digital Manager. ? The ideal candidate has strong verbal and writing skills, the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment under deadlines, is highly collaborative and eager to work well with the Pennsylvania staff, the policy staff, and scheduling to ensure a good product, and has a good sense of humor and a heart for public service. Prior communications experience necessary. Capitol Hill experience preferred. PA ties a plus! ? Our office policy is that we pay at least the median salary for each position which, for Communications Director, is currently $90,000. Standard House benefits – health insurance, transit benefits, student loan repayment, retirement help – are available. Benefits unique to this office include four weeks of paid time off each year, one week of additional paid time off for community service, an additional four weeks paid sabbatical after four years of service, generous teleworking options, we are closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and more.
