  • Minimum Wage Increases Potentially Create Pay Compression Colorado’s recent minimum wage increase could cause pay compression among worker salaries in an organization. The definition of pay compression is when employees with different levels of experience or skills are paid similarly. When new employees are brought on at a wage which is the same or higher than existing experienced employees, HR and senior leadership may be faced with unhappy established employees who may exit in favor of higher wages elsewhere. There are solutions to remedy the discrepancy, including: provide additional benefits to the employees affected or adjust pay ranges accordingly. It is best practice to proactively and continuously monitor employee salaries for market fluctuations and labor law changes.

  • New Changes in 2025 for Colorado Employers Minimum wage Colorado's minimum wage will increase from $14.42 per hour to $14.81 per hour. The minimum wage for tipped workers will increase from $11.40 per hour to $11.79 per hour. Individual cities and counties can set their own higher minimum wages, with Denver’s minimum wage increasing to $18.81. Colorado Salary Threshold The salary threshold for Colorado in 2025 has been set at $1,086.25 per week which translates to approximately $56,485 annually, meaning employees must earn at least this amount to qualify for exemptions from overtime pay.?

Make a habit of reviewing it every January to ensure that it accurately defines your company’s current policies and expectations, and remains compliant with any local laws that may have changed with the new year.
