2025-2026 Early Hiring - Special Education Teacher In preparation for the 2025-26 school year, the Renton School District is hiring our Special Education cohort of teachers in?February -?March of 2025.? The Renton School District Teacher Academy is focused on "Growing Our Own" and diversifying the educational workforce. This is an essential strategy for addressing teacher shortages and increasing representation in our educational workforce. As the Recruitment Coordinator for the Renton School District, I love to have the job task and opportunity to connect with, cultivate relationships, and encourage our Teacher Academy students to find careers in education throughout the school year. I meet with the Teacher Academy students and staff to discuss option available for students in the District, how to apply for positions, benefits of becoming an educator in the District, interviewing techniques, and more. The Renton School District Teacher Academy is a program designed to recruit, train, and retain future educators, particularly from underrepresented backgrounds, to diversify the teaching workforce and strengthen our District's school system. Goals of our "Teacher Academy" Program are to: ? Increase Educator Diversity: Recruiting students with the District who are part of the Teacher Academy who want to be future educators ? Support Future Teachers: Providing mentorship, training, and pathways to certification and accessing paraprofessional testing that will allow them to work in education after graduation and earn a competitive wage ? Address Teacher Shortages: Encouraging students to be paraprofessionals and enter the educational profession while gaining experience in education ? Strengthen Community Ties: Retaining prospective teachers who reflect and understand the communities they serve, the students they support, and the educational environment they grew up in Our Strategies for Implementation: ??High School Teacher Academies: Junior and Senior school students explore education careers ??Paraprofessional-to-Teacher Pathways: Once/when students become educational support staff they work and earn credentials while working ??Culturally Responsive Training: Focus on equity, inclusion, and culturally affirming pedagogy within the Teaching Academy program ??Mentorship & Financial Support: Teacher Academy students have an opportunity to apply to and be considered for the District's "Grow Your Own" Program ??Impact on Diversifying the Workforce: ??More Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and bilingual educators in classrooms while developing stronger representation for students of color, leading to better academic and social outcomes ??And of course, retention of local talent helps to reduce teacher turnover because their is cultivated and sustainable relationship connecting the educator, student, families, and community.

The Renton School District hosted its first annual Showcase of Careers. This was an opportunity for attendees to meet with the amazing schools and departments in our District all in one place as they sought to learn more about the job opportunities available in the Renton School District. In case you didnt know......the Showcase of Careers was a success. And we're so glad that so many of our community members came to check out the Renton School District and its offerings. Attendees participated in 1:1 interviews, applied for positions, and chatted with schools/departments throughout the District. We hope to get some dynamic candidates from the career fair. And because of YOU spreading the word, we know that we will get some great talent to support our students and Renton District community.
