Upjohn Institute where she leads the Regional Housing Partnership for Southwest Michigan and develops comprehensive housing plans.?In addition to her work at the Institute, Emily operates her own development consulting firm, Zero Plus.? With a decade of experience at the State of Michigan, Emily has held key roles at the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Throughout her career, she has successfully guided communities and developers on projects ranging from $1 million to $80 million. A LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction since 2009, Emily is also recognized as an Economic Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council. She holds degrees in Urban and Regional Planning and Environmental Economics. She is dedicated to building a socially just and ecologically restorative future. Andrea Brown has served as the Executive Director of the Michigan Association of Planning (MAP), the Michigan Chapter of the American Planning Association, since 2004, and as its Information Director prior to that.?MAP is one of the largest of APA’s chapters with nearly 4,000 members and serves professional community planners and elected and appointed land use decision makers like planning commissions, zoning boards and elected local leaders. Ms. Brown is responsible for the development of MAP’s land use and planning policy; for advancing MAP’s legislative agenda in Lansing; for advocacy and lobbying efforts; for developing relationships and partnerships, forming coalitions; and working closely with other land use leaders, state agencies, policy makers and non-profits.?Ms.?Brown is the chief fundraiser for MAP and has successfully secured more than $3 million in grants, sponsorships and contributions since 2004. Renovare Development in partnership with Harbor Habitat and with support from Whirlpool Foundation is proud to announce that Benton Harbor City Commissioners have taken action to advance development of the Mercy Hospital site known as Project T (see link to article below).?This is a multi phase project that includes for sale affordable duplexes and a mixed use building with ground floor child care and grocery. The city commission approved the master deed for Project T, noting the development is receiving a Michigan State Housing Development Authority Missing Middle housing grant, a $1.25 million grant from Whirlpool Foundation, and a $2.1 million Brownfield financing agreement for its first phase.
