Introducing Florence Chang, a dedicated advocate and the latest addition to Renne Public Law Group's 2025 Fellowship Program! Flo is pursuing a Government Law Concentration at University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) and is committed to using law as a tool for social justice. During her time at UC Santa Barbara, she served students at the Legal Resource Center and championed UC divestment from the Thirty Meter Telescope project, advocating for the protection of Hawai‘ian land. She also gained hands-on experience enforcing safe housing and business practices at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office. Meet Nick González, MPP, the next member of Renne Public Law Group's 2025 Fellowship Cohort! Nick is a J.D. candidate at University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings), concentrating in Work Law. He serves as a staff editor for the UC Law Journal of Race and Economic Justice, the Internal Vice President for the Employment and Labor Law Students Association and a law clerk at Neyhart, Anderson, Flynn & Grosboll. Before law school, Nick worked at the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute and for several elected officials. Renne Public Law Group is excited to welcome Gemma Aguilar to the 2025 Fellowship Cohort! Gemma is a first-generation college graduate and a 2L at USC Gould School of Law. She serves as the Internal Communications Chair for both the Latinx Law Students Association (LLSA) and the Barbara F. Bice Public Interest Law Foundation. Before law school, Gemma gained experience as a legal assistant at a workers' compensation law firm and worked as an economic development specialist for the City of Vista. Renne Public Law Group is pleased to announce that on March 10, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to review the Ninth Circuit’s ruling in a long-running employment case, securing a significant victory for the City of Stockton, CA. Our team, led by attorneys Spencer Wilson, Geoffrey Spellberg, Ryan McGinley-Stempel and Art Hartinger, along with co-counsel at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, successfully defended the City by demonstrating that the Ninth Circuit’s decision upholds key Title VII standards for public employers. Our third 2025 Renne Public Law Group fellow is Isabella Blanco! Isabella is a law student at University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) and a former Teach For America corps member, where she taught 8th-grade Social Studies and Writing. She is deeply committed to advocacy, volunteering to teach legal rights, assisting asylum seekers and promoting diversity in the legal profession. As the Diversity Chair for the Latinx Law Students Association and an active moot court participant, Isabella is dedicated to driving meaningful change. Mallory is a second-year law student at University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) and currently serves as a legal intern with the California Department of Justice's Healthcare Rights and Access Section. Mallory gained experience with the California DOJ's Health, Education and Welfare Section, worked as an administrative summer intern at a boutique healthcare law firm and served as a clinical student with Legal Aid at Work’s Workers' Rights Clinic. Meet our first fellow, Maryjo S., a law student at University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) with a strong passion for public interest law. Maryjo has gained valuable experience as an intern for the County of San Mateo Attorney's Office, a Management Fellow in the City Manager's Department for the City of South San Francisco, a Summer Law Clerk for San Mateo County and an AmeriCorps Management Fellow. She currently serves as a Staff Editor for the UC Law Journal on Gender and Justice, participates in Moot Court and is the Communications Director for the Pilipinx.
