Solar Progress: Adding Value and Improving Quality of Life Around the Globe

关于我们

Renewvia Energy Corporation is a top 500 Global Solar Developer headquartered in the Atlanta, Ga. It designs, installs, owns and operates commercial and community solar power systems and provides a complete range of solar energy solutions including turnkey solar installation, integrated financing and solar consulting services. Since its founding in 2008, Renewvia has designed, installed, owned and operated over 80 megawatts (MW) of power across the United States, Pacific Islands, South America and sub-Saharan Africa. Projects range from equipping large industrial farms with up to 60 MW of renewable energy to constructing 2.5 MW distributed rooftop solar arrays for industrial facilities and 50 kilowatt (kW) systems for small commercial buildings, along with hybrid and standalone solar microgrids of varying size in remote, hard-to-reach communities. Currently the company is developing clean energy projects where the most expensive fuel source is burned to create power. Power costs for businesses in these areas are crippling and many times large capital expenditures are not feasible for business owners regardless of the associated returns. Exciting Milestone for Renewable Energy in Africa! ??? ? We are proud to announce that Renewvia Energy, in agreement with SOSAI Renewable Energies Company (Safiya Aliyu), First Electric (Daniel Komolafe Creeds (Hannah Kabir), and Electrify MicroGrid Limited (Olumide Fatoki, MSc, EMBA, MNSE, R.Eng (COREN) Fatoki, MSc, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria to connect 100,000 households to Mesh Grids powered by Okra Solar (Afnan Hannan) over the next two years! ? At Renewvia, every decision we make is data driven. Through extensive analysis of energy needs and consumption patterns from existing mini-grids, we’ve identified Mesh Grids as a superior solution for electrifying off-grid communities with smaller populations. Our pilot project in Emakalakala, Bayelsa, demonstrated an 80% increase in ARPU and ACPU compared to mini-grids in neighboring communities with similar tariffs. The results speak for themselves: ? ? Higher revenue generation – making projects more attractive for investors ? Lower energy losses – thanks to a decentralized, customer-level approach ? Scalability – enabling seamless expansion to meet growing demand at the customer level ? With these insights, we’ve set an ambitious target: 21,000 mesh grid connections by the end of 2026, bringing us one step closer to our long-term goal of 500,000 rural and peri-urban connections across Africa by 2030. ? This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our team, partners, and the resilient communities we serve. We also want to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of Abba Aliyu and the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria Team, Ademola Ogunbanjo and the OANDO CLEAN ENERGY team, as well as Ashipa Electric Corp., De-Janees Concepts Limited, FOX POWER LIMITED, MBH POWER, WeLightAfrica, and Darway Coast, whose contributions were evident at the signing event. ? To our fellow developers in the sector—keep pushing boundaries and innovating to bridge Africa’s energy gap. Together, we are lighting the way to a sustainable, electrified future! ????? ? Proud to be part of Africa's solar mini-grid revolution! ??? We've witnessed firsthand the life-changing impact of reliable, affordable electricity. According to our recent study mentioned in this insightful article from Knowable Magazine, communities we serve have seen median household incomes quadruple after gaining access to our mini-grids! Beyond economic benefits, the ripple effects are profound: - Women gain time previously spent collecting water, allowing them to start businesses - Local entrepreneurs can operate longer hours with significantly lower energy costs - Communities feel safer with reliable lighting at night The article rightly points out that mini-grids aren't without challenges. That's why we're committed to training local technicians to maintain systems and working with communities to boost economic activity that makes these installations sustainable long-term. Nigeria is becoming "a poster child for mini-grid development across Africa," and we're proud to be part of this movement bringing clean, reliable power to the 600 million Africans currently lacking electricity access. #solarprogress #sdg7 #renewableenergy #renewableinvestment #cleanenergy #solarenergy #minigrids #ruralelectrification #energyaccess #offgridsolar #socialimpact

?? What are private sector solutions in forced displacement contexts? At the heart of the IFC-UNHCR Joint Initiative is a bold belief: the private sector holds the power to transform lives, foster resilience, and unlock opportunities for forcibly displaced populations and the communities that host them. But this isn’t just about finding solutions—it’s about redefining what’s possible. It’s about showing that businesses can be a force for good in the world’s most challenging contexts while unlocking new opportunities for growth and innovation. This partnership proves that empowering forcibly displaced persons (FDPs) isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s also a smart business strategy. Together, we’re demonstrating that inclusion and opportunity can drive sustainable growth, resilience, and impact. By harnessing the private sector's expertise, resources, and commitment, we aim to create opportunities that empower displaced individuals and their hosts, rebuild communities, and strengthen economies. ?? Hi fam, hope you're enjoying christmas / benders ?? ?? This is the last and most exciting highlight from my recent site visit with the Renewvia Energy team. The post is about Davidson Bennywhite (orange shirt) and some amazing ladies Idiam, Evelyn, Faith and Levi I. (in the back of the pic). Benny played a key role in installing Renewvia's mini-grid but his impact didn't stop there. Remember how I mentioned power theft being an issue? Benny was the guy to identify how meters were being bypassed, and to corroborate meter-off households against obvious usage of energy from seeing lights being on. Now here's the main story from this post - it's about local community members maintaining the infrastructure. When failing meters became an obstacle for Renewvia things started to slowdown because Benny couldn't quickly access components, OEMs, or even the broader Renewvia team — so he took matters into his own hands. Benny identified the faults in the meters (usually relatively simple and recurring fixes, like an issue with the contactor or the battery cell) and then he repurposed parts from other faulty meters to get things back up and running. Benny didn’t keep this knowledge to himself. He’s been training a group of awesome local ladies —Idiam, Evelyn, Faith, and Better—in basic electronics skills. These ladies are now fixing meters and they've also taken the lead in installing a significant part of the Okra mesh-grid in the neighboring community of Emakalakala. Seeing the ripple effects of job creation and community empowerment in action was super awesome. This visit gave me a new perspective on localized repair models. At Okra, we currently handle aftersales support through warehousing and logistics in Nigeria, which means faulty Pods have to be shipped to Abuja—a process that can be both costly and time-consuming. But seeing Benny, Idiam, and their crew in action made me realize there’s a huge opportunity here. Imagine training more local legends like them, equipping them with spare parts and skills to handle repairs directly in their communities. This could make after-sales support faster and more scalable—all while creating more jobs on the ground. This is why I love site visits, always something new to learn from the community? What do you think about these lessons? I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas!?See ya in 2025. ????
