This August, we celebrated the Sustainable Landcare Training program with participants, Blue Thumb Partners, and Metro Blooms supporters! ???? It was great to see everyone connecting, learning about the Sustainable Landcare Training (SLC) program, and getting to know each other with a scavenger hunt activity! We gathered at Renewable Energy Partners Inc, where a SLC training session was held earlier that day. We heard from SLC partners Jamez Staples, founder of Renewable Energy Partners and Shahram Missaghi from City of Minneapolis Public Works. Ab Fleming, our Sustainable Landcare Training Manager and lead SLC trainer, and Edwin Moore, past?SLC?trainee and landcare crew member at Metro Blooms Design+Build spoke about the impact of the program. This week, 13 Project Success students from Wellstone High School completed a Solar Energy Course through Minneapolis Climate Action’s Green Workforce Training program, offered at the Renewable Energy Partners Inc training facility. All students are English Learners who are gaining the certification needed to design, sell, install, or maintain solar systems. As part of their training, they have taken a field trip and conducted lab work, and will take their certification test needed for employment this week. Project Success is making sure they have the support needed to complete their training and coursework, including food, transportation, and language translation. This project was funded by the Catalyze Challenge and the Multilingual Office at Minneapolis Public Schools and supported by Wellstone High School Administration. #ProjectSuccess #PS30 #careerconnectedlearning #minneapolis #careerexploration #education #catalyzechallenge
