Building more water-resilient systems for people, crops, and nature is foundational to RRG's business. It's how we started some two decades ago in California's Central Valley—one of the world's most productive and water-challenged farming regions. So, for this Thanksgiving, we're especially grateful for the on-the-ground partnerships—farmers, water managers, environmental NGOs, and more—that have been instrumental in developing sustainable water solutions on three continents. With their help, we can build innovative underground water storage facilities, partner with local water districts and farmers, help enhance regional water security, and put private capital to work helping address one of the natural resource challenges of our time. RRG's own Charles Stringer highlighted this priority recently at the California Water Resilience Initiative forum. His insights underscore the critical importance of innovative water management strategies, especially in the face of accelerating hydrological volatility and climate change. So to all our colleagues around the world: Thank You. No matter where you are, we're grateful to you for working to advance this vital mission to create a more sustainable and water-secure world. #WaterResilience #SustainableWater #PartnershipForChange #RenewableResourcesGroup #gratitude

Thanks for sharing,?James Loechel. Very much worth a read. We noted this in particular: ? "[Nature capital investing] is forcing more transparency on to agricultural supply chains. It’s a response to evolving customer expectations on how farmland is being used to grow meat or crops. The dynamic is already changing institutional investment processes, company reporting, and directors’ duties.”
It’s no longer enough for fund managers to make promises about sustainability. Investors want concrete results and funds with a track record of sustainability outcomes will reap the rewards. #naturalcapital #farming

As Thanksgiving approaches in the US, it's got us thinking about gratitude. We're so very thankful to have trusted partners on three continents who share our vision of impact investing for sustainable agriculture, water resiliency, renewable energy, biodiversity, and habitat conservation. From the western US and Mexico to Chile and Australia, we get to work with a talented and committed array of farmers and agronomists, hydrologists and water managers, conservation and environmental specialists, and energy and infrastructure experts. Together, we get to develop sustainable farmland, build innovative water facilities and solutions, protect important habitats, and demonstrate the power of a new model of impact investing. And we get to partner with The Nature Conservancy and with so many more distinguished experts and respected collaborators on the ground across the world. ?? As we look to the future, we're excited to continue growing these relationships and forging new ones. Together, we can prove that commercial success and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand. #SustainableInvesting #GlobalPartnerships #RenewableResources #GratitudePost

Showcasing innovative sustainability strategies in commercial agriculture is a key part of the mission of the RRG Sustainable Water Impact Fund (SWIF), our partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC). One project we like to highlight is from Australia, where RRG's Manta Farms is working to demonstrate development of a first-class commercial table grape vineyard while meeting important sustainability standards (both 3rd-party and internal to SWIF's framework). The RRG Australia Team took over an underperforming, public-variety vineyard in order to redevelop it into a state-of-the-art farm producing high-quality, proprietary table grapes, with a focus on serving key demand windows in southeast Asia export markets. In the process, they worked with the RRG Sustainability Team and our partners at The Nature Conservancy to design and implement the project in a way that earned a Leading Harvest Farmland Management Standard certification - a respected sustainable agriculture standard that is flexible, adaptable, and verified by an independent third party. Illustrating the strength of conservation projects that RRG and TNC developed for Manta Farms, Leading Harvest identified several "notable practices" consistent with their "Conservation of Biodiversity" objective. A favorite of ours is the nearly 18-acre wildlife corridor on the project's southern and western boundary connecting to the Wargan Mallee Bushland Reserve. This initiative should support over 70 bird species, including the majestic Regent Parrots and the charming Willie Wagtails. We believe that Manta Farms is a testament to combining commercial farming and support for biodiversity. We are proud of the great work of RRG Australia and our TNC partners — and hope it encourages others to follow suit. If you haven't already, we highly?recommend checking out?Lauren Ferstandig's TED-style talk at The Global Impact Investing Network Impact Forum in Amsterdam. She showcases an example – from the RRG Sustainable Water Impact Fund (SWIF) – of how real sustainability can be combined with commercial success in agriculture.? ? Lauren heads up NatureVest at The Nature Conservancy, our partners on SWIF. Here, she focuses on the visionary work of Chilean farmer Maria Paz Chadwick at one of our farming projects in that country. We hope it inspires more understanding of the new model for impact investing that we’re so excited about. Congratulations to Lauren – and to Maria. #SustainableAgriculture #ImpactInvesting #RegenerativeFarming #GlobalImpact #SustainableInvesting
Thrilled to Share My Experience at the Global Impact Investing Network Impact Forum! Last month, I had the honor of taking the stage at The Global Impact Investing Network Impact Forum in Amsterdam. During my TED-style talk, “Agriculture has shaped our history, now we need to shape its future,” I delved into the groundbreaking investment strategies and partnerships that The Nature Conservancy is championing to drive the transition to regenerative farming. My talk highlighted the inspiring work of Maria Paz Chadwick, a visionary Chilean farmer and sustainability trailblazer. Her efforts, supported by the RRG Sustainable Water Impact Fund for which TNC is Conservation Advisor, are a testament to the power of investing in regenerative agriculture. If you missed the event, don’t worry! You can catch my talk on TNC’s YouTube channel and discover how these innovative practices can deliver conservation and climate outcomes alongside financial returns. I’d love to hear your ideas on how further investment and innovation could support farmers in transitioning from conventional to regenerative agricultural practices. Please share your thoughts in the comments! https://lnkd.in/dVkfHVc7 RRG Capital Management (RRG) #SustainableAgriculture #ImpactInvesting #RegenerativeFarming #GlobalImpact #RRG #SustainableInvesting?

This is fun and insightful - and illustrates a perspective that can be powerfully applied in sustainable management of agricultural and water projects. For example, we've been very pleased by the biodiversity benefits of strategically managing groundwater recharge basins - with the expert technical guidance of our partners The Nature Conservancy - to create seasonal wetlands with varying water depths throughout the season that match the varying sizes (and feeding needs) of the migratory bird species coming through at different times.?(Special shoutout to TNC's Catherine Burns and Ekaterina Alexandrova.) It's great to see our colleagues at Frutura Uruguay— María Belén M. and her team—working to become the second Frutura company and fourth RRG Capital Management (RRG) company to achieve B Corps Certification. Futura Uruguay lives its motto, "Every Voice Counts," on the streets, serving the community of Salto to improve quality of life and sustainability. Frutura's commitment to being a Force for Good is inspiring. And their fresh fruit is fantastic too. We're proud to work with you all. #SustainableInvesting #SustainableAgriculture #Partnership #BCorp #Community #GiveBack
One of Frutura’s 2025 Impact Objectives is to?Enhance Regional Well-Being?and?Frutura Uruguay?is making real on that promise through a company-wide volunteer committee which seeks to enhance quality of life in Salto, where they are headquartered. ? Committee members are already working side-by-side with their neighbors on park clean-ups and traffic accident mitigation programs, as well as by volunteering in local schools.? ? Additionally, Frutura Uruguay is actively engaged in training programs at every level of the company on their path to possible B Corp Certification. ‘Every Voice Counts’ is their mantra as Frutura Uruguay’s impact culture is enhanced by new sustainability programming.? ? ?

Congrats on the new debt for nature coalition,?The Nature Conservancy. TNC is creative and far-thinking when it comes to innovative ways of leveraging funding and technical expertise to address global natural resource challenges – as we know from our experience partnering with them on the RRG Sustainable Water Impact Fund. This new effort of theirs is exciting to watch.
The world has made strides in developing solutions that unlock finance for nature and climate. Debt conversion initiatives – like Nature Bonds projects pioneered by TNC – and Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) models are some of the largest potential sources of new funding and technical assistance to help countries achieve global climate and nature goals. They’re effective, durable and ready to scale. At #COP16Colombia, we're encouraged to see a whirlwind of announcements that demonstrate strong commitments to investing in a nature-positive future: ?? Today, we're celebrating a new debt for nature coalition, designed to scale up powerful conservation tools like TNC’s Nature Bonds projects. Through this radical collaboration between The Nature Conservancy and five of the world’s other foremost environmental organizations – Conservation International, Pew Charitable Trusts, Re:wild, Wildlife Conservation Society and World Wildlife Fund – we’re set to accelerate and scale debt conversions for nature and climate, unlocking billions for nature, grounded in sustainability, Indigenous-led stewardship, and collaborative action. Together, coalition members are developing a shared pipeline of projects, helping create standards, coordinating policy efforts and sharing best practices. ?? https://lnkd.in/gZz-8xMa ??A new Joint Action Plan with the Agence Fran?aise de Développement will strengthen our collective efforts to combat biodiversity loss. It outlines a series of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing biodiversity conservation, water security, and climate resilience across the world. ?? https://lnkd.in/gw7trMyD ?? A transformative new collaboration with France was announced yesterday to help Gabon conserve 30% of its forest, freshwater, and marine ecosystems by 2030 through unlocking $60 million, which includes support for a Project Finance for Permanence (PFP). ?? https://lnkd.in/epSU_uaM ??The Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, WWF, The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, TNC, and Wildlife Conservation Society formally agreed to build a PFP initiative for Bolivia that ensures freshwater security and strong forest management while building a thriving bioeconomy and safeguarding critical habitats ?? https://lnkd.in/gSQWCYHn ??TNC joined Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for the release of the 2024 Biodiversity Finance Dashboard, an updated assessment of progress towards the Finance Targets of the #KMGBF. The Dashboard draws attention to the urgent need to mobilize increased finance for nature from all sources and close the $700 billion annual biodiversity finance gap. While the world has seen progress, more must be done. ?? https://lnkd.in/gR-MX6jj #ConservationFinance #ClimateAction #SustainableFinance #COP16 #DebtForNature #Biodiversity #PFP #EnduringEarth #naturepositive

We're still thinking about a point highlighted last week in Ann Hayden's recent Los Angeles Times op-ed:?The necessity of seeing California’s groundwater sustainability push as an opportunity to support local community and landscape revitalization. As Tim Allan, one of RRG's senior US deal leads, likes to say: Multi-benefit strategies are a core component of working successfully in Western farming and water management. One of his recent projects, for example, is transitioning an old ag operation and its land via a multi-pronged business plan. They're adding to a protected habitat area and building groundwater recharge basins to increase water supply reliability for farmers, create seasonal habitats for bird species of conservation importance, and improve water quality and accessibility for nearby disadvantaged communities. There is much more work to be done throughout California and the US West. But it’s clear that the path forward is collaborative — involving farmers, water managers, policymakers, and local communities. And it’s a path that allows us, as Ann writes, to "nurture a genuinely resilient landscape capable of thriving in an era of climate whiplash."
