The Renasant Convention Center in Memphis, Tennessee is being reimagined with a game-changing renovation that includes enhancements to the building’s interior and exterior. Every square inch of the convention center will be touched by this project, bringing hotel-quality finishes and amenities that are desired by meeting planners and their delegates. The convention reinvention vision is for meeting spaces that embrace the river and skyline views along with outdoor terraces, glass-enclosed concourses, pre-function space, and 46 breakout meeting rooms. When complete in the Fall of 2020, the Renasant Convention Center will feature a column-free 118,000-square-foot main exhibit hall, a new exterior concourse and pre-function space, 46 breakout rooms, the largest in the region, and a 28,000-square foot ballroom to host smaller events. The renovation will also include public art, and digital wayfinding, and additional loading docks for easier load in and load out.

This past week RCC’s Amanda Noble, President of the HSMAI, lead the mid south’s annual HSMAI Event Planner Panel. Panelists including Bryana Polk, Kiara Jones, and Adam Stluka answered and discussed questions regarding the hospitality industry, where the RCC came up as an industry leader in technology integration & sustainability practices for utilizing in house digital screens and billboards, removing the need for consumption of paper product! ?? Thanks to everyone that attended this years HSMAI, and for making the hospitality industry so great!!

The second annual “Spirit of Memphis Relay” is underway and Welcome to Memphis appeared on WREG News Channel 3’s Live at 9 to spread awareness! Executive Director Marcus Cox discussed the social media relay which encourages employees of restaurants, bars, and cafes to create a signature cocktail using Old Dominick spirits that represent their business. Customers and employees are invited to post pics, and use the hashtag #SpiritOfMemphis! Welcome to Memphis aims to get as many people to participate to show support for the Memphis hospitality scene! The relay ends on the 15th, we look forward to seeing y’all’s submissions!!

We had an eventful Wednesday! ? Both OBAP - Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals & MMHLA Metropolitan Memphis Hotel Lodging Assoc were in the building. OBAP had it all! From interview opportunities to virtual reality, it was a great experience. MMHLA was equally great! As an organization centered around bettering the hospitality industry and our city itself, it was an honor to be able to host this event as well. A big thank you from the RCC to those events & everyone that attended! ??
