关于我们
In a world rapidly shaped by technological advancements, there is an urgent need to harness the power of technological innovation while at the same time uphold the principles of multilateralism and global governance. Recognizing this imperative, a groundbreaking new project is on the horizon. REMIT is an ambitious research initiative funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe programme for research and innovation, aiming to transform global governance and cooperation in the digital age. We will be addressing global problems in four specific areas of technology: digital, health bio, security & defence, and finance. By focusing on these areas of technology, the project will provide the needed analysis and the necessary theory building to support the EU in its future policy making.

Our partners at Babes-Bolyai University have had a very prolific past few months! They have three additional new REMIT publications to announce, and we are more than happy to amplify them. Prof. Valentin Naumescu has published an op-ed on the EUXGLOB platform on the present and future of Central and Eastern Europe - the region "trapped between Russian threats, well-meaning EU illusions and changes in the US", as the author put it. Secondly, Prof. Naumescu, along with Oana Poiana and Assoc. Prof. Raluca Moldovan contributed two chapters to the Palgrave Macmillan book titled "EU Geopolitical Actorness in a Changing World". The first of these chapters speaks of EU's geopolitical approach in the Eastern neighbourhood, the second of it the Middle East. Learn more about all these on our website, with additional notes from the authors on their writings: https://lnkd.in/dyxfBEgp https://lnkd.in/d2H2TKr3 Congratulations on great work, UBB team! ??

Maastricht University contributes to reinforcing Europe’s leadership in global tech governance! Over the past two days, the Brussels Hub has hosted the consortium members of the REMIT Research project, coordinated by Maastricht University and funded by Horizon Europe with more than 2.5 million EUR. In a rapidly evolving global landscape, the lack of cohesive tech regulations presents significant risks to the EU and its allies. Europe’s proactive role in defining global tech governance is essential to prevent others from setting the rules for the digital future. REMIT comes into play as a forward-thinking initiative aimed at reinforcing Europe's leadership in global tech governance. The project tackles critical challenges such as China’s technological rise, Russia’s misuse of technology, and the dominance of U.S.-based digital platforms. More importantly, it offers a vision for Europe to assert itself as a key player in shaping the future of multilateralism in the digital age. The REMIT project focuses on four vital policy areas: Digital Technologies, Health and Biotech, Security and Defense and Financial Technologies. REMIT project partners include Babes-Bolyai University?(Romania), University of Bremen(Germany), KU Leuven (Belgium), Luiss Guido Carli University (Italy), Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands), Tartu ülikool (University of Tartu) ?(Estonia), Finnish Institute of International Affairs - FIIA ?(Finland). ? Maastricht University’s researchers include Prof. Dr. Roberta N. Haar, Dr. Nicola Bilotta, Dr. Catherine Yuk-ping Lo, Prof. Dr. Sophie Vanhoonacker, Hengyi Yang Yan, and Siyuan Qiao from our University College Maastricht, Maastricht University - Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Maastricht University Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. ??
