Building technology to save lives

关于我们

Remedy Robotics is a clinician and engineering led organization that cares about solving real clinical problems with the best technology in the world. We believe elite technical talent should be solving high impact problems. Things we love: 1. Patients. 2. Tight, cross domain collaboration between engineers and doctors. 3. Using the best technology in the world to help people in need at scale. Things we hate: 1. Medical technology that does everything but improve patient outcomes. 2. Pomp, elitism and exclusion. 3. Microinnovation.

Every day, thousands of people die or suffer avoidable disabilities simply because they live in the wrong place or present to the wrong hospital. Nearly a decade ago, The The Lancet Group undertook an in-depth investigation into global access to surgical care. Their research revealed that nearly 70% of people lack access to surgical care and 85% lack adequate access to endovascular intervention. Global policy, along with technologies such as remote surgical robotics, offers a chance to address this inequity. However, instead of just getting on with it, we sit back and blame our lack of progress on factors beyond our control—because it’s easier than tackling the hard challenges head on. We blame: - Regulation—that thing that exists to ensure we do good science and put the patient first. - The internet—because who could pass up another grant to investigate latency (even if it is a solved problem)? ? - Fear of liability. The lack of progress in remote surgical robotics has been for one reason and one reason only - the technology has not been good enough. Robotic procedures must be technically perfect, fast, cost-effective, fully robotic (and fully means fully), and—most importantly—improve patient outcomes. It’s bloody hard, but work with the best technologists in the world and tackle the hard problems head on and we can do it. Our take on how we stop talking and start doing is here - https://lnkd.in/gVSpQ7cY More research will be available online soon. Contact David Bell with questions.
