Uniting changemakers in the fight for human rights and climate justice in the clothing industry. Take action ⬇️
关于我们
Today, our clothes are disposable and cheap, while the human and environmental costs required to make them are tremendous. For the millions of mostly 18 to 24-year-old women (who represent 80% of the fashion supply chain), these jobs can be the best first step out of poverty. Yet the industry is rife with low wages, inadequate worker protections, unsafe conditions, and unrest. The current system needs a remake, and we are here to do just that. Our mission is to build a conscious consumer movement. Remake tells stories that bring shoppers, brands, and makers into a movement to shape the fashion industry’s relationship with the millions of people in its supply chain. When we know their stories, we can use our collective voice and shopping dollars to improve and shape the lives of people who make our clothes.

/ Lock arms with us and United Nations EP globally to celebrate #ZeroWasteDay coming this Sunday-make a commitment to go 90 days with #NoNewClothes 🦋 Humanity’s current patterns of unsustainable textile production and consumption are contributing to the triple planetary crisis: the crisis of climate change, the crisis of nature, land and biodiversity loss, and the crisis of pollution and waste. When we resist the fashion industry’s tactics to manipulate us into buying more we can band together and have enormous impact. By pressing pause on the purchase of new clothing, reflecting on ways to address overproduction, and holding corporations accountable for their actions, we take the first step in our journey to remake the fashion industry for good. Are you in? Sign up we'll track our collective impact: https://lnkd.in/gWBh8XNg #beatwastepollution #slowfashion #sustainablefashion

"The new guard of trash designers place themselves within the timely conversation on the future of fashion, but they also are having more fun than they could anywhere else. San Francisco’s lack of fashion cred means designers here can be more playful and operate outside the glare of critics’ eyes. There can be greater creativity, less commitment to regular collections, and more interactive events blasted all over social media. The same week Slocum debuted her Neverend line, the Ferry Building was taken over by local nonprofit Remake for a sustainable fashion show called Walk Your Values. It featured the colorful, texturally rich clothes from Gathered Cloths, an upcycling textile project by Fafafoom Studio, among others. Former fashion blogger and designer Mira Musank is the visionary behind Gathered Cloths, a project she launched in 2021." https://lnkd.in/gCVcBGkH

The Truth Behind Fashion’s Sustainability Claims: Who’s Actually Accountable? Last week, I highlighted the urgent need to hold brands accountable under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). Now, remake.world’s 2024 Fashion Accountability Report exposes just how far the industry still has to go. Key Findings: ❌ SKIMS and Temu both scored 0 – raising serious concerns about the gap between marketing and reality. ❌ CHANEL ranks on the same level as Amazon – luxury and fast fashion aren’t so different when it comes to accountability. ✅ Everlane leads with 40/150 points, followed by H&M Group (Hennes & Mauritz AB). 👏 Congrats to STEFAN Seidel and the PUMA Group team for securing 3rd place! 🤔 Patagonia surprisingly lands in the middle – proving that reputation doesn’t always match action. My Take: The sustainability narrative in fashion is broken. Brands flood the market with greenwashing, but when measured against real accountability, most fall shockingly short. It’s time to move beyond storytelling and demand transparency, measurable progress, and true impact. Big shoutout to the authors Ayesha Barenblat, Alden Wicker, Yessenia Funes, Rebecca Coughlan, Alexa Roccanova, and Julie Mastrarrigo of this crucial report for bringing the truth to light. / We can't thank the students at Sage Hill enough for their activism and solidarity to Remake! "Sage Hill School’s 3rd Annual Reimagined Fashion Show, was all about upcyling and waste reduction. Reimagined, a student-led club focusing on sustainable fashion, works to breathe new life into old clothing while igniting change one garment at a time. The timing of this year's show did not escape founder and co-president Anna Yang. “We young people can make change too,” she tells Teen Vogue. “Maybe you guys aren't doing it right…maybe this is the reimagined version of what fashion week should look like.”" https://lnkd.in/gZ2GTZEe

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to be on a sustainable fashion panel at the GW Textile Museum to represent the Zero Waste programs at US PIRG. It was a great opportunity to talk about the environmental and health impacts of the fashion industry at every part of the lifecycle of clothes; from extraction, to textile dying, to overstock and excess waste. It was inspiring to see the organizations working in the field of sustainable fashion and I got to learn so much from other panelists who work in the fields of labor justice and fair pay. I love diving into new topics and I was lucky to meet people from remake.world who helped organize the event. Remake is an organization that works to make the fashion industry more sustainable and fair for everyone. Naturally, I joined as an ambassador to immerse myself in the topic and meet other people who are passionate about this issue. I have learned so much and have been apart of so many cool things in the first month PIRG and I am excited for the future.

While the industry recognizes the urgency of value chain decarbonization, many fashion brands are falling short of their Scope 3 responsibilities. remake.world's Fashion Accountability Report 2024 highlighted that only 29% of fashion brands can demonstrate financial support for decarbonization efforts—initiatives that are often opaque and limited in scale. Suppliers, meanwhile, face pricing pressures and unpredictable cash flows, making it difficult to invest in long-term climate solutions. Better Buying revealed that fewer than 49% of suppliers receive payments that cover production costs and allow for profit. Without equitable partnerships and transparent investments, how can we expect the collective action necessary to drive meaningful and lasting change across the industry? I look forward to this panel with Jodie Leek from ASOS.com, Dr. Vidhura Ralapanawe from Epic Group, STEFAN Seidel from PUMA Group, and Krishna Manda (he/him) from Lenzing Group, moderated by Evan Wiener. Join us for this important discussion and many more at the Sustainable Apparel and Textiles Conference next month in Amsterdam (29-30 April). If you haven't yet bought your ticket, you can register here: https://lnkd.in/dWz9HZE See you there!
