As we conclude our Hunger Action Series, join us in celebrating Diamond Manufacturing Company and KMS for joining forces to strengthen food security efforts in their local community!? ? Diamond and KMS decided to support the St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, which is just a few miles away from their respective headquarters offices in the cities of Wyoming and Luzerne. With the Kitchen facing a pressing need for help during the late summer months – a time when donations often dwindle – Diamond and KMS stepped in and sponsored two days at the facility!? ? Not only did the team donate non-perishable food items, they also rolled up their sleeves, put on aprons, and got to work! By the end of the two days, this dynamic duo served more than 600 meals, nourishing both bodies and souls.? ? They didn’t stop at the kitchen, either! The team also gathered clothing donations for St. Vincent de Paul’s free clothing store, offering essentials that bring comfort and confidence to the unhoused and others in need.?? ? Eileen John, VP of Customer Service at KMS, said, “This was a very rewarding experience for both companies and we look forward to doing this again in the future! Financially sponsoring a day is always good, but to truly get involved, to work and converse not only with the regular volunteers but the clients, was heart-warming.”? ? Kudos to Diamond Manufacturing Company and KMS for showing that when we come together, we can move mountains (or in this case, serve a whole lot of meals). Ahead of #Halloween, our Corporate Community Committee collected candies and costumes (say that three times fast!) for the Ronald McDonald House Pasadena, in hopes of making this season a bit sweeter for families there. We hope you have a spooky and safe Halloween! #RelianceCares

Inspired by Hunger Action Month, Southern Steel Supply organized a food drive benefiting the Mid-South Area Food Bank. As the leading food distributor in Memphis, Tennessee, the Food Bank provides nutritious and wholesome food to local agencies and distribution sites across 31 counties. Because Southern Steel wanted to also commemorate the 9/11 National Day of Service, they held their food drive from 9/2 to 9/10. Creatively decorated collection areas were displayed in the sales office, drawing eye-catching attention to the cause! Two signs greeted employees and visitors as they entered the office: one announced “9/11 National Day of Service Benefitting the Mid-South Food Bank,” while the other highlighted the themed donation days:? Meat the Need Monday: Canned meats Tin Most Wanted Tuesday: Top 10 items needed? Wash Up Wednesday: Cleaning supplies and paper products Thankful Thursday: Any items included on the needs list Fruity Friday: Canned fruits with no sugar added Each day showcased vibrant images on the themed sign, allowing Southern Steel to make the drive not only fun and engaging, but also tailored to meet the specific needs of the Mid-South Area Food Bank! In total, the team collected an impressive 470 pounds of donated items, which included canned goods, dry soups, paper plates, paper towels, toilet paper, canned meats, 100% fruit juices, and bottled water. On September 11, the team packed up a truck with all the generous donations and sent them off to the Food Bank, ready to make a difference for those in need! Dawn Raymond, a Southern Steel Sales Representative, and the event organizer, shared, “It did my heart good to be able to do something good for others, and it also was a stark reminder of how fortunate we are if we do not have to rely on places like this just to survive, much less thrive.” The overwhelming success of this food drive illustrated how even small individual contributions can collectively make a big impact on the lives of those in need, inspiring the team to make plans to host another food drive in the near future! In honor of Hunger Action Month, GH Metal Solutions hosted a food drive and meal packing event in collaboration with Marked for Life, a local crisis center pantry in Fort Payne, Alabama. After engaging discussions between the GH Metals Community Partnership Committee and Marked for Life, the GHMS team was inspired to host events at each of their Fort Payne locations to support the vital service this organization provides. To kick off their initiative, the GHMS Committee set up collection boxes with signs that read “Fill a Box, fill a belly” on-site in their Fort Payne locations, encouraging employees to donate non-perishable food items. The food drive generated enough to assemble 200 meal bags, each thoughtfully packed with spaghetti dinners, cake, and frosting – providing both a hearty dinner and a sweet treat to brighten someone’s day. These meal bags represent more than just nourishment – they symbolize care, community, and support for those facing food insecurity. Thomas Sesterhenn, Vice President of Operations at GH Metal Solutions, shared, “It was important for our team to find a local organization to support. By working with Marked for Life, we know our donations and time are helping our neighbors who are most in need."
