RF VP of Entity Engagement and Corporate Services Diane Holder emphasized the importance electric reliability at a panel discussion at the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission’s Resource Adequacy Technical Conference Monday. The panel discussion posed the question: what are the right mix of resources and how do we get them online? And as a follow-up, will effective load carrying capacity, properly designed, accomplish this? For more information on the conference, see: https://lnkd.in/gnY7hZjH And if your state or organization would like to discuss these topics with us, reach out via our website at www.rfirst.org/contact-us #ForwardTogether #ElectricReliability #ResourceAdequacy

RF works to maintain the reliability, security and resilience of the electric grid in the Mid-Atlantic region
关于我们
ReliabilityFirst works to maintain the reliability, security and resilience of the electric grid across 13 states and the District of Columbia, which stretches from the Atlantic Seaboard to Lake Michigan. The electric grid is the backbone of our economy, is critical for our national security and necessary to support our public welfare. In fact, a reliable and secure electric grid is fundamental to our most basic daily routines and needs. Our mission is to ensure that this cornerstone to our national well-being is reliable and secure – not only for today but also for tomorrow. To achieve this mission, we bring together a diverse and broad spectrum of experts from across the nation with various professional, technical, and industry backgrounds. We identify and prioritize risks facing our electric grid; determine sustainable mitigation strategies to address these identified risks; and develop and deploy communication and outreach strategies to drive awareness and further ensure risk resolution. Our team includes electrical engineers, computer engineers and cyber security experts, statisticians and risk experts, attorneys and regulatory experts, professional auditors, systems engineers, organizational design experts, and professional trainers. ReliabilityFirst is one of only six companies across North America that are responsible for this vital work under Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)-approved delegation agreements with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC). Specifically, our company is responsible for the reliability and security of the electric grid in the Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes areas of the United States, which includes all or portions of Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, and the District of Columbia. We are proud to call Cleveland, Ohio our home.

NERC has filed the congressionally directed Interregional Transfer Capability Study (ITCS) with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) today, in advance of the December 2 deadline. The #ITCS is a unique assessment of North American #transmission transfer capability using, for the first time, a common approach with consistent assumptions to identify locations where technically prudent additions will strengthen and improve #grid reliability. The ITCS is the culmination of 18 months of extensive outreach and collaboration between #NERC, the Regional Entities, transmitting #utilities, state/provincial/federal regulators, and #industry trade groups across North America. The filing will be followed by a #FERC public comment period. Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/gQAq4E2b

NERC’s 2024–2025 Winter #Reliability Assessment finds that while regulatory and industry initiatives have improved winter #readiness, many parts of North America are once again at an elevated risk of #energy shortfalls under extreme conditions. Similar to last year, no areas are identified as having a high #risk of energy shortfalls in extreme weather conditions and all areas are expected to have adequate #resources under normal #winter peak load conditions. https://lnkd.in/gzf2PGKi
