    Relevance > Personalization

We've cut 43% of the emails from users' inboxes. Here's the secret sauce: The essentials: ?? Rank messages in your inbox based on relevance, not when they arrive. ?? Senders must say why their relevant to you in 50 characters or less ?? Force senders to verify via LI so they can't just create more domains Prioritize messages from: ?? People who post about relevant topics to you. ?? People who your first degree connections engage with ?? People who meet your criteria for industry, sender location, etc. Behind the scenes: ?? Block AI/templated messages ? Limit sender responses to 50 per day ??? Archive messages automatically after 28 days if you don’t interact. Any other ideas? Our Product Hunt launch is Nov 12th but happy to give you Alpha access Lets stop the spam ?????

2 things: 1. This product is on the market. Should we take the hint? 2. Doing sales outreach? You need to up your game. Doing more actions won't work. People don't want sales outreach. Doing more won't work, unless it's specifically relevant. Personally, I'm here for this. I love it. This is why I've unlearned what I know about sales, to build back to stay relevant in 2025. The old ways aren't worth the time. P.S. People selling to you? Check this out. I have no affiliation with Tom Singell and Relevance, but I'm sure this will explode.

    Relevance > Personalization

Most selling is low IQ & EQ. It's controversial yet most sales teams would agree: If we start by looking at sales from a non-sales perspective... → Outbound strategy is choosing which strangers to target. → Cold email is emailing strangers. → Sequences is pestering strangers, hoping some respond. → Multi-channel is waving at strangers from all 4 street corners. → Personalization is pretending like you know a stranger. → Demos are usually because strangers can't figure out your website. → Follow-ups are bugging strangers who ignored you. → Pipeline is guessing which strangers will listen. Outbound sales is talking to strangers. It's why hustle culture in sales is creepy: If someone is hustling strangers in person you'd call the cops. That’s why the distinction between sales & selling matters: ?? Sales is a high IQ & EQ profession that seeks relevance. ?? Selling is a low IQ & EQ task that seeks attention. Thats why the trend of AI SDRs is insulting to sales professionals. It’s noise that is destroying the channels relevant sales pros rely on. It's controversial yet most sales teams would agree: Be relevant or get out of sales. ??????

    HubSpot operations, RevOps, sales process.

The medium may be AI, and it is indeed the emerging world we are living in, but the message remains human. (Credit to Marshall McLuhan for giving us the original line: "The medium is the message".) Quality outreach takes time—even if you’re manually executing an ABM sequence—and no amount of automation or AI technology will ever change that (even though, for a while, the perception might be that AI can volumize your funnel). I suspect that C-level execs especially, but AE's and salespeople in general, too, will become numb to certain types of cold outreach because it’s easier to send than it is to truly connect (and taking the time to prepare for an intelligent, thoughtful interaction beats a pitch slap any day). Thanks to Tom Singell and his idea to create https://www.relevance.to/ to help execs filter out---using selected criteria---unwanted cold emails. AI will never replace the value of a well-timed, personalized conversation. (Thanks to posts by John Welch for reminding me, among other things, that a little preparation before making a cold call, while not the silver bullet, goes a long way to preparing for intelligent connections when you do reach the right person at the right time.) Building real relationships will always be the better long-term strategy than automating noise. (And right now, much of the AI wave looks like it's just going to automate noise, and itself become the new noise.)
