Yesterday, I ordered a tankless water heater for a customer and realized that our pricing for the specific installation service we quoted had not been updated in years. We were not going to make any margin on the job. So what did we do? I called the customer and let him know that I had good news and great news. The good news was that this replacement would in fact solve his problem, and the great news is that he would be getting a killer deal. We would honor the original price we quoted even though the cost of the equipment had changed significantly. He was ecstatic! It’s hard as a business owner in home services to know you’re not making any money on a job, but our word and commitment is more important. This was modeled for me years ago when we added on to our home. We signed a fixed price contract with Rejuve Group just before the price of lumber and labor skyrocketed. They completed the project without ever asking for more money and did an excellent job. And I talk about it to this day! If your looking for a trustworthy home contractor that will do what’s right, they are out there.
