Over the past year, we’ve taken steps to better serve the LGBTQ+ community, including launching gender-inclusive gear, updating our in-store experience, and using body-mapping technology to create better-fitting apparel for nonbinary and trans people. Did you know that #REI has supported 100% renewable energy across all its stores and operations for more than 10 years? ???? In the spirit of being a cooperative, we are also committed to helping our community and partners reach similar goals. In North Carolina, we have teamed up with Nester Hosiery LLC —one of our largest manufacturers of hiking socks—to secure renewable energy from local solar projects developed by Sol Systems. This North Carolina renewable energy supports the electricity used by REI's 7 North Carolina stores and Nester's Mount Airy-based manufacturing facility, helping both organizations contribute to the growth of clean energy in the region. #REI’s Laura Kelley spoke with Linda Baker on all things Re/Supply for her latest piece in The New York Times on the booming trend surrounding apparel resale. ? As a co-op with a 60-year legacy in circular commerce, we see our Re/Supply program to reuse gear, reduce waste and make a sustainable impact as a cornerstone of our work.
