Transit is the Answer.
关于我们
The Regional Transportation Authority (a.k.a. RTA) was created in 1974. In 1983, the amended Act created three "service boards" known as the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra commuter rail and Pace suburban bus. The RTA's primary responsibilities became financial and budget oversight of CTA, Metra and Pace, and regional transit planning issues. Guiding the RTA's oversight responsibility is a Board of Directors who approves an annual budget and two-year financial plan. The Board consists of 15 members and a chairman appointed from the six-county region. The RTA Board is also required annually to review and approve a five-year capital plan, which is a blueprint of the capital activities to be funded by the RTA and executed by the CTA, Metra, and Pace.

? Today we are sounding the alarm on how looming transit cuts could mean drastic service reductions across CTA, Metra, and Pace if we don't find a solution to the fiscal cliff. Scenarios from the transit agencies include the loss of all weekend suburban bus service, elimination of branches on half the L, and far less frequent Metra schedules that could take years to rebuild. “This isn’t just a transit crisis — it’s a regional emergency,” RTA Executive Director Leanne Redden said. “If the General Assembly does not act this spring, hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans will wake up in 2026 without a way to get to work, school or medical appointments with continued uncertainty in future years about their transit services.” There is a solution though. Additional funding can fill the fiscal cliff and unlock frequency that creates the world class transit system the Chicago region deserves. https://lnkd.in/grjddiuC
