? The first study visit of the FISSH Food Industry SMEs Sustainability Support and Help project (February 11-12, 2025) is behind us! Over two insightful days, we explored inspiring #sustainablefoodsolutions and exchanged best practices with partners from across Europe. It was an intense and rewarding experience! ?? What did we experience? ?? We visited ILVO (Instituut voor Landbouw, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek) and Food Pilot, where we learned about cutting-edge food research. ??♀? We heard inspiring testimonials from sustainable entrepreneurs, including #Pastati, DJAR, and Greenway. ? We explored the #VandekerckhoveKoffiebranderij coffee roastery, discovering sustainable approaches to coffee production. ?? We took part in a workshop on the #RapidScalingTool, led by Margo Degieter (Ghent University), to help scale innovative solutions. ?? During the partner meeting, we exchanged good practices from our regions, covering topics like intelligent agriculture, short food supply chains, and sustainable market routes. ??? And, of course, we enjoyed delicious local food and networking moments! ?? 2nd Regional Dissemination Event – CITISYSTEM On February 3, 2025, the 2nd Regional Dissemination Event of the CITISYSTEM project took place at the New Hall of the Regional Council of Central Macedonia. The event brought together experts, policymakers, and key stakeholders to discuss innovative solutions for sustainable urban development and circular economy practices. ?? Organized by: The Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia and the Region of Central Macedonia (Associated Policy Authority). During the event, participants had the opportunity to explore the progress of the project. Discussions focused on the evolution of separate bio-waste collection in Central Macedonia, with insights from Regional Association of Solid Waste Management Agencies for Central Macedonia, and the importance of preventing food waste along the value chain, as it was presented by representative of Boroume Organization, a good practice on food waste prevention, which was highlighted by Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia during the current semester, while the findings of the recent OECD - OCDE study on circular economy in the region was analyzed too. ?? Key Takeaways: The event fostered discussions on smart waste management, food waste prevention, and sustainable urban planning. It highlighted the importance of collaboration between regional authorities, civil society, and research institutions in shaping a greener future for Central Macedonia. ??
