Region 9 is here to help you and your business succeed. Proudly serving and improving economic conditions in SW Colorado
关于我们
Region 9 Economic Development District serves the counties of Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan, and the cities and towns within those regions, as well as the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and the Ute Mountain Ute Indian Tribe. Our mission is to be a regional leader, working cooperatively with the private and public sectors to enhance the economic conditions in the area, and improve the region's economic prosperity. Among our many services, Region 9 EDD offers a revolving loan program for "gap" financing to assist small business retention, expansion and job creation. We also offer a micro-enterprise loan program for loans up to $100,000 for qualifying small businesses with five or fewer employees. In addition to our loan programs, Region 9 EDD administers the Colorado Enterprise Zone Tax Credit program, publishes the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) to assist local communities with regional economic development strategic planning and technical assistance and helps to administer different State and Federal programs. Region 9 EDD often partners with community organizations, governments and the private sector to assist in the development of special projects that result in job creation/retention and the economic expansion of the community or enterprise.

Yesterday, Region 9 staff Heather Otter and Region 9 Loan Committee member Gus Westerman attended the Southwest Colorado Food and Agriculture Summit in Hesperus. Colorado. This year's Summit brought together farmers and ranchers, food producers, supply chain workers, food retailers, food access professionals, policymakers, and funders to better understand the challenges and opportunities we face and propose ideas and solutions that strengthen our regional food system. https://lnkd.in/gVBQMjCC

Colorado's Enterprise Zone (EZ) program provides certain state income tax credits and several other incentives for private enterprise to expand or for new businesses to locate within a state EZ area. All of Dolores, Montezuma, and San Juan, as well as most of Archuleta and parts of La Plata, are currently located within the Southwest Enterprise Zone boundaries which is administered by Region 9. Today, we want to highlight an EZ project, The Rico Fire Station. It serves as a triage center during a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI), and is designated as an emergency shelter for people displaced by fire, flood, weather, or a tour bus accident. RFPD is planning an additional building (adjacent to the existing Fire Station) that would provide increased storage for vehicles and equipment, classroom space to train our volunteers, and improved kitchen facilities (the current facility's kitchen measures less than 7' x 8'). The proposed building would benefit Department volunteers, local residents, travelers, and visitors in need of emergency services, and the Rico community at large. Appreciate our Region 9 Board member and SWCCOG Vice Chair, Veronica Medina.
🚧 One Week In: Downtown Road Construction Update 🚧 Officially one week since road construction began in downtown Pagosa! This morning, I had the pleasure of meeting with Laura from Region 9 at one of our fantastic local restaurants. Over a cup of coffee, we discussed county business and enjoyed seeing the restaurant bustling with customers. It’s wonderful to see our community continuing to shop, dine, and support local businesses. Thank you all for your patience—excuse our dust as we rediscover the gem that is our downtown! 💛 #PagosaStrong #SupportLocal #DowntownRevitalization

Have you checked out Homeshare yet? It's a website for locals to post ads for spare rooms in their house, but it's not your average room listing site. Through the website, you can do background checks, message each other, and come to an agreement on the rent/labor rate in exchange for the room. https://lnkd.in/gCuUVUp7

We are happy to welcome Christine Tookey to the Business Loan Fund (BLF) Committee as a San Juan County Representative. Tookey is a long-time resident of Silverton, a former two-term Mayor, previously served on the Region 9 Board of Directors, and also worked as the Silverton Station Manager for the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
