At Regina Joy, LLC, we draw inspiration from the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose unwavering commitment to service, peace, and justice reminds us of the power of collective action. Dr. King’s profound question, “What are you doing for others?” resonates deeply with our mission to serve communities, foster belonging, and create opportunities for meaningful impact. As we honor his legacy this MLK Day, we are reminded that true change begins with intentional service and a steadfast commitment to nonviolence, even in the face of opposition. It is through acts of kindness, understanding, and purpose-driven work that we move closer to the world Dr. King dreamed of—a world united by love, equity, and justice. Today, let’s reflect on how we can use our talents, resources, and platforms to uplift our fellow humans and global citizens. Together, we can embody the spirit of service and contribute to building stronger, more compassionate workplace. How will you serve others today? Let’s keep Dr. King’s dream alive—through action. #MLKDay #ServiceToOthers #CommunityMatters #Belonging

Recently, I had the privilege of working with a population health team to explore the power of diversity of thought. We tackled a problem through an exercise where the team broke into four groups, each focusing on a unique perspective—logistics, heart-centered thinking, budget, and more. The joy came from watching these groups lean into their strengths and then come together. Alone, their ideas were incomplete. But when combined, they created a plan far more effective than any single approach. This playful approach reminded us all that collaboration is key and that diverse perspectives elevate outcomes. In my Leadership OKC journey, I’ve been inspired by the unsung heroes of our community—those who dedicate themselves to supporting individuals on the fringes due to mental illness, job loss, or food insecurity. Their efforts reaffirm the truth that we are all interconnected. As my mother would say, “No man is an island.” These experiences have deepened my commitment to creating spaces where everyone feels valued, whether in the workplace or the community. It’s a reminder that our teams, just like our communities, are only as strong as our weakest link. ?? A Thought for Leaders: What if we approached our teams and communities the way my population health team tackled their challenge—with respect for individual strengths and a focus on alignment? As HR leaders and healthcare professionals, we have the power to foster engagement and inclusivity by recognizing the value of every voice. How do you nurture collaboration and inclusivity in your own teams? What steps can you take this year to uplift and empower those around you? Let’s start a conversation! Share your thoughts below or message me to discuss how we can create more joyful, inclusive workplaces together.

Cohort vs. Intensive – Which One’s Right for You? ?? We know the middle can feel overwhelming, and that’s why we offer two unique ways to help you manage it all. Not sure which one fits you best? Here’s a quick breakdown: ? Cohort: For those who crave consistent, in-person support, our Cohort meets monthly to work through the ups and downs together. Think of it as your local support system that grows with you, one month at a time. ?? Intensive: If you’re all about focus and flexibility, our virtual 6-week Intensives are made for you! With tracks on topics like negotiation and leadership, it’s designed for those ready to go all-in, without a long-term commitment. ?? Whether you want the steady rhythm of a Cohort or the targeted focus of an Intensive (or both!), we’re here to support you in the middle. Comment below or DM us if you’re ready to dive in or just need help choosing the right path! With gratitude, Lyndi & Regina

What Wicked Teaches Us About Belonging in the Workplace This week, I was struck by the timeless themes of Wicked—a story about friendship, perception, and defying societal expectations. As I reflected, I couldn’t help but see how these themes echo the importance of belonging in the workplace. One of the most powerful lessons from Wicked is how people, like Elphaba, are often labeled “different” or “difficult” simply for challenging norms or standing in their truth. Despite her strengths—intelligence, courage, and integrity—she’s cast as “wicked” because she doesn’t conform. Sound familiar? In many workplaces, individuals with unique perspectives or bold ideas are marginalized instead of celebrated. So how can we foster belonging in environments that are often resistant to change? Here are a few lessons Wicked offers: 1. Look Beyond Labels: Just as Elphaba’s “wickedness” was a narrative imposed on her, the same can happen to colleagues who don’t fit into traditional molds. By creating space to understand people’s stories and strengths, we can dismantle harmful labels and unlock their full potential. 2. Challenge the Status Quo: Glinda’s transformation from self-absorbed to self-aware reminds us that growth often requires discomfort. As leaders and colleagues, we must ask hard questions about whose voices are heard, who’s left out, and what systems need to change. 3. Prioritize Belonging Over Assimilation: Nessarose’s struggles highlight the danger of conditional acceptance—where people feel they must change who they are to belong. A truly inclusive workplace embraces differences, allowing everyone to show up authentically. 4. Recognize Allyship as an Action: Glinda’s journey to allyship shows that standing up for others requires more than good intentions; it requires courage and consistent action. In the workplace, allyship means advocating for equity, listening actively, and holding ourselves accountable. Wicked reminds us that belonging isn’t just about inclusion—it’s about valuing individuality and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive. When people feel seen, heard, and appreciated, they’re not just more engaged—they’re more innovative, collaborative, and resilient. As we approach the new year, let’s commit to building workplaces that defy gravity and embrace everyone’s magic. What about you? Have you seen Wicked, or do these themes resonate with your own workplace experience? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Hello Friends! I am sharing my latest newsletter article on an important issue in healthcare: addressing implicit bias in pain management for Black and Hispanic patients. Implicit biases can significantly impact patient care and outcomes, leading to disparities that we must actively work to eliminate. In this article, I discuss the implications of these biases and propose strategies to ensure equitable pain management for all patients. Let's continue to educate ourselves, advocate for diverse representation, and implement standardized protocols to provide the highest quality care to everyone, regardless of race or ethnicity. This past week, I was honored to speak at two different events and share my teachings on Implicit Bias in Healthcare. My hope is that both audiences feel a sense a relief knowing that we ALL have bias and that there are tangible things we can do to disrupt our bias so that patients can receive the best care. A BIG THANK you to OU Heath Sciences Center and the Southwest Region of the Oklahoma Medical Assistant Society. Truly an honor to share and grow together. #healthequity #plantingseeds #OMAS #OUHSC
