Accelerating the regenerative economy by flowing trust-based funds to community-based initiatives in degraded landscapes

关于我们

Partnering with emerging grassroots leaders and organizations working to protect and regenerate their territories ???? Building on the success of the Buckminster Fuller Institute’s (BFI) Fuller Challenge and Spring Prize in identifying solutions to local ecosystem crises—the BFI and Spring Prize have teamed with other pioneers of the regenerative movement to create Regenerosity. We see a world where communities thrive in healthy ecosystems supported by just and equitable flows of capital. Our mission is to flow trust-based funds to high-potential, community-based initiatives in threatened or degraded landscapes in ways that grow their capacities, scale and impact. Amid the crossroads of climate, social and economic crises, protecting and restoring the bio-cultural diversity of life on Earth is the challenge of our times. One powerful approach is the transformation of food systems and livelihoods, through applying the principles of Agroecology, indigenous-led restoration and regenerative practices. When this work is led by local communities and informed by their traditional ecological knowledge, long-lasting social, ecological, and economic impacts can be secured. Grassroots organizations and leaders are essential in increasing the resilience of their local communities while helping to protect and restore threatened or degraded ecosystems. Their work needs to be recognized and resourced in order to amplify their crucial impact.

Have you ever wondered how to start a project from scratch in extreme circumstances? This inspiring conversation between Wegesa Jane Fraser and Oliver Goshey on The Abundant Edge Podcast is a perfect place to start. "Of all the projects that I've watched develop from the beginning, Jane is the example I most enjoy pointing to when people ask for advice on how to get their projects started with limited resources. Her determination, creativitiy, tenacity, and focus on community are blossoming into a real catalyst for change in her region of western Kenya." - Oliver Goshey, The Regenerative Edge podcast Wegesa, our friend and Regenerosity East Africa Regional Coordinator, is a community mobilizer, Permaculture and Regenerative agriculture trainer and practitioner working with local communities, sharing simple and effective regenerative solutions that help to restore degraded landscapes, improve livelihoods and boost resilience.

As aid budgets shrink, communities are being put into increasingly vulnerable positions. The latest wave of aid cuts is devastating, with food rations slashed, essential services disappearing, and millions of people facing even greater insecurity. These cuts expose the failures of a system that fosters dependency rather than long-term resilience. At?Re-Alliance, we have the privilege of working alongside over 300 incredible grassroots organisations who are proving that another way is possible. Communities coping with disasters and displacement are: ???Growing their own food?in refugee settlements, urban centres, and rural villages through approaches such as Agroecology, rooftop gardens, and permaculture. ???Building ecological sanitation systems?that transform waste into a resource, improving health while regenerating the land. ???Constructing fire-resistant, locally built homes?that reduce dependency on imported materials and external funding. ??Creating community-led renewable energy solutions that put power back into the hands of displaced people. These regenerative, community-led approaches don’t just provide short-term relief, they build?long-term resilience?that doesn’t rely on volatile international aid budgets. We need to shift the focus of humanitarian and development work?from dependency to autonomy, and from extraction to regeneration. If you work in the humanitarian or development sector, we invite you to?join our network?and be part of this shift. If you’re in a position to support this work—whether through funding, collaboration, or amplifying these solutions—we’d love to connect. Mark your calendars: On January 20th we'll transform Blue Monday—known as the "most depressing day of the year"—into a day of Active Hope ?? Coinciding with the inauguration of the Trump presidency in the US, the 20th of January symbolises a new political era, in a world that looks more and more divided. That’s why on this day we want to bring the larger bioregional community together around an alternative vision for the future — a vision of Bioregional Hope. What if we moved beyond nation-states and began organizing ourselves bioregionally — to reconnect with the unique landscapes we call home, while being part of a larger, interconnected whole? During this event, we’ll premiere 7 short films, each featuring 3 bioregional changemakers, brought together by Bioregional Weaving Labs across Austria, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Spain, who are protecting, restoring, and regenerating their lands and seas ?? We invite you to virtually travel to at least two bioregions, watch their films and interact live with the changemakers. There will also be inspiring guest speakers and we’ll end with a clear call to action to get involved in the larger bioregional movement ?? Come join us on the evening of January 20th from 7:00 - 9:00 PM CET, bring some regenerative popcorn and wine ???? a cup of tea or coffee ??? to transform Blue Monday into a celebration of Bioregional Hope ? The link to sign up can be found in the comments ?? #activehope #bioregionalhope #bioregioning #bioregions #bioregionalweavinglabs --- Bioregional Hope is organised by the Bioregional Weaving Labs Collective. It’s our mission to mobilise 1 million changemakers to restore, protect and regenerate 1 million ha of Europe’s land and sea by 2030. Let’s rewrite the story of Blue Monday—together.
