Amazon Aigen, a company that is building solar-powered farming robots that can weed farms and collect data on crops using AI, was one of the winners of Amazon Web Services’s (AWS) Compute for Climate Fellowship, announced two weeks ago. ?? Microsoft Through its Climate Innovation Fund, Microsoft invested in three companies that are focused on regenerative farming and land resilience over the last 18 months: Yard Stick PBC, Vibrant Planet, and Farmland LP. Klim has raised $22 milllion in a Series A round to scale regenerative agriculture globally. ?? The round was led by BNP Paribas alongside other visionary US and EU investors including AgFunder, Earthshot Ventures, Elevator Ventures, Edaphon, kopa ventures and Rabobank. ?? This piece starts to dig into how. Here are a few of the practical steps recommended: ?? Due Diligence: Ask targeted questions that go beyond surface level claims and certifications. For example, are there metrics to back outcomes? ?? Engagement: Encourage transparency on things like transition strategies, supply chain visibility, and application of practices. ?? Financial Considerations: Evaluate the financial implication of adopting regenerative agriculture understanding that short term costs may be in support of longer term resilience. ?? Policy Advocacy: Support policies that promote long-term land stewardship and push for incentives that support farmers through transition. ??
