Last May, RefineLA teamed up with Forward to host 'Thrift For Palestine' at Sunset Village Plaza—a market where all proceeds were donated to support humanitarian efforts in Palestine. Many members from our UCLA community came to show support, and we are proud to announce that we collectively raised $2,100 for Palestine. We have decided to split these funds equally between "Salam and Solidarity", an organization providing vital aid throughout the Gaza Strip, and Fadi AbuTaqiya, who is raising money to evacuate his family from the war-torn region. This event was more than just a market—it was a powerful collaboration within the UCLA community to make a tangible impact through sustainable fashion. A huge thank you to everyone who supported and made this possible! Read more about our efforts in the Daily Bruin: https://lnkd.in/g6XRAgEz

Art History & Cog Sci Student @ UCLA | President of RefineLA | Marketing Intern @ Poshmark

?? Wrapping up my first year as President of Refine LA at UCLA! ???? From directing our first sustainable runway show to launching our print publication, it has been an incredible journey leading UCLA's sustainable fashion club, Refine LA, through a year of transformation, creativity, and growth. Reflecting on our accomplishments, I'm filled with pride and gratitude for our passionate and dedicated org members and more specifically, my wonderful executive board: Alina Beaman, Lianne Calvo, Samantha Fong, Claudia Rajski, Grace Timan, and KIRSTEN YU. ?? Highlights of the Year: - **Lost and Found Fashion Show:** Organized our inaugural fashion show at the UCLA Sculpture Garden, showcasing stunning garments made completely from repurposed textiles by our very own Product Team, demonstrating the limitless creative possibilities within the realm of upcycled fashion. This was hands down my favorite night of the year as we were able to create such an immersive, memorable experience for all of our attendees. - **RefineLA Zine:** Launched our print magazine, featuring articles, interviews, and photoshoots focused on sustainability in fashion. It was such an exciting opportunity to serve as the creative director for this project and to finally produce a product that could be appreciated tangibly. - **Brand Sponsorships** We had the pleasure of collaborating with Poshmark throughout the year for various events like our quarterly flea markets and upcycling workshops. Working closely with the wonderful Poshmark team has opened the world of fashion tech to me. This year has not been without its difficulties, and I have truly learned so much about leadership, project management, and how to authentically cultivate an engaged community. Coming into the presidency, I had many ambitious goals as I aimed to transform RefineLA into a more creatively-fulfilling space. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to my team who enabled my dreams to become reality, no matter how daunting it may have seemed. It is my third year working within RefineLA, and I can say definitively it has been one of the greatest experiences I've had attending UCLA. I'm excited to continue this journey with RefineLA as we expand our organization and work towards new goals. ??? #SustainableFashion #UCLA #RefineLA #Leadership #Community #CircularFashion #FashionTech #UCLAsustainability

Just recently, my editorial team at Refine LA and I designed a presentation on fashion journalism to share at our Week 7 GM. We discussed the history of fashion coverage, highlighted key figures in the industry, and used market research to show how technology is changing journalism.
