This past weekend, Reel Free successfully hosted our inaugural Lung Legacy Run 5k!
When we set out to organize this event, I anticipated the usual takeaways—how to improve timing, marketing, and enhance efficiency for next year. But what truly stood out was something much deeper and more impactful.
It wasn't just about learning how to run a smooth event; it was about connecting with incredible individuals who are dedicating their lives to improving the lives of those battling respiratory conditions.
Here’s what I really learned:
Inspiring Stories: I met people whose resilience and dedication were beyond inspiring—like those who’ve lost loved ones to respiratory illnesses and have turned their pain into purpose, dedicating their lives to making a difference. Those who battled through a lung transplant, and are telling their story to leave a message.
The Power of Community: Healthcare workers, transplant recipients, and others with personal connections to respiratory challenges came together, not just to run, but to support and uplift one another.
Beyond the Run: This event wasn't just a race; it was a reminder of the stories and struggles that extend far beyond the finish line. It was about the human spirit and the collective effort to bring awareness and support to those in need.
We had an amazing turnout, and I’m filled with gratitude for everyone who showed up and supported the cause. A special shoutout to our sponsors—InterimHealthCare, CareLinc Medical Equipment, Protein Pints, and City Built Brewing Company —your support made this event possible. ??
To all the participants, supporters, and sponsors: thank you for being part of something truly special.?Let’s continue to make an impact, one step at a time.
