Redwood Coast Energy Authority is a Renewables and Environment company located in 633 3rd St, Eureka, California, United States. The purpose of the Energy Authority is to develop and implement sustainable energy initiatives that reduce energy demand, increase energy efficiency, and advance the use of clean, efficient and renewable resources available in the region for the benefit of the Member agencies and their constituents. To further that purpose, the Redwood Coast Energy Authority works toward the following goals: To lead, coordinate and integrate regional efforts that advance secure, sustainable, clean and affordable energy resources To develop a long-term sustainable energy strategy and implementation plan To increase awareness of, and enhance access to, energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy opportunities available to the region To add value to, but not duplicate, energy services offered by utilities and others serving the region To keep key decision makers and stakeholders informed of policy, regulatory, and market changes that are likely to impact the region To support research, development, demonstration, innovation, and commercialization of sustainable energy technologies by public and private entities operating in Humboldt County To develop regional capabilities to respond to energy emergencies and short-term disruptions in energy supply, infrastructure, or markets that could adversely affect Humboldt residents and businesses

JUST ANNOUNCED: The Department of Energy announced a GRIP award for the Tribal Energy Resilience and Sovereignty project. The TERAS project award will be administered by the?Redwood Coast Energy Authority?(RCEA). “RCEA, Humboldt County’s community choice energy provider, is honored to partner with local tribes on TERAS, which will be a major milestone for our clean energy and resilience efforts. We look forward to creating effective strategies to improve community resiliency that can be replicated throughout the nation,” RCEA Interim Executive Director Eileen Verbeck said.
We’re thrilled that the Department of Energy announced a GRIP award today for the Tribal Energy Resilience and Sovereignty project! TERAS will develop a series of nested, clean energy microgrids to resolve significant outage issues for Tribal communities in Northern California. We’re honored to support an intertribal partnership between the Hoopa Valley Tribe, The Karuk Tribe, the Yurok Tribe, and the Blue Lake Rancheria Tribe, and we are grateful for collaboration and support from the Redwood Coast Energy Authority, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the California Energy Commission, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and many other funders and technical and workforce development teams who will make this project possible!
