    Had the chance to join Hunter Parnell on the Public Defenseless Podcast to talk about how tools like Reduct can help public defenders adapt to today’s challenges. The introduction of police body-worn cameras promised transparency and greater police accountability. But simply releasing footage isn’t enough—it needs to be reviewed, analyzed, and brought to trial to make an impact. That often means attorneys and staff spend hours, if not days, combing through video. Here, we discussed how Reduct changes that. Our timestamped transcripts and the power to search through the footage simplify the review process, and help public defenders hone in on what's actually important. We wanted any redaction done via Reduct to be irreversible, and so we came up with a different technique, which we are calling 'secure blur.'"     Fun to see this article I wrote a long while ago end up on Hacker News today: https://lnkd.in/eiasCz6e It was definitely an interesting journey to that solution. Folks kept asking us for a blur, which we didn't implement for a long time because we knew it wasn't secure. Then we finally implemented masking (black rectangles), which were secure, but super ugly. We eventually thought of this solution, and it's ended up working really well -- a great mix of great secure + great aesthetics.
